Memorial Day Flag Display
Fly the American Flag at Half Staff on Monday 5/30/2011 from Sunrise Until Noon for Memorial Day.
EXCERPT FROM THE US FLAG CODE Section 7.M The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. A recent subject of interest with guidelines before the fact. Also, Flag Day is right asround the corner - June 14th. |

Greatly appreciate your reminder. My difficulty is (and has almost always been), "How do you fly flag at half-staff when you're displaying on a pole affixed at a 45-degree angle from the home's wall?" I think I've seen that you need a fixture that will allow the flag to be parallel to the ground ("half-staff"), then at a 45-degree angle ("full-staff") but I don't have such a fixture. Hope all TOTV-ers will come out on Monday for the ceremonies at Veteran's Memorial Park in Spanish Springs. SWR :beer3: |

Happy to report that after my walk thru the neighborthood that all 4 flag pole mounted flags are at half staff. Also, many dozen yard flags along the sidewalks and drive ways. I'm on my weway to Veterans Park.
