I am of the product of Italian parents and find this sort of thing demeaning. In fact I wish this guy who plays the Godfather here in TV would knocked it off. I wish television would stop showing Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious because both show are misleading. And I wish pizza companies would lose the little italian guy with a mustache and Joy Behar and Regis stop telling people they are Italian However Giada can continue advertising her ethnticity and the wonderful Italian food she prepares on food.com. Finally Ba da Bing is stupid and not cool at all . That's my story and I am sticking to it:crap2:

Sorry you found this post demeaning.

It was intended to lighten up the TOTV a bit.

Having lived in Rome for the past 2 years with 1 more to go, I can assure you I have respect and admiration for Italians and even more so for the great wine and food.

Please take this posting as it was meant to be, funny.

Ciao for now

I thought it was hilarious. I know Leon Panetta and have a lot of respect for him. I sent it to friends in NY

I too have met Mr. Panetta and feel the same way.

I was on a flight from San Francisco to Wash DC many years ago and he was on the flight. What surprised me was we were BOTH in Coach... He obviously didn't use his position at the time, "Chief of Staff" for President Clinton to get an upgrade.

Jackz I do admit to the sin of pride. However, I do have a sense of humor and understand the mob thing. Just think people ought to be aware that that the Italian experience does start and stop with mob things and guidos
Ciao

I thought it was funny and I'm of 100% Italian descent. I also am 100% American, and it was my grandparents who were born Italian but died American, and my father and uncles who protected their country in WWII. I didn't get the sense that your thread was demeaning Italians, but instead, kind of praising them in an kinda Soprano's spoof.

It's the same thing I don't understand when Native American's object to the use of sports teams who want to show their fierceness by comparing themselves to Native American Warriors. I would be a little bit proud of that. (maybe Redskins is a little much, but that's the only one that too close to being offensive, in my non-native American opinion)

We are too sensitive

I loved the post. I am half Italian and a quarter German and Irish, so I am a mutt. But that is part of my heritage and I embrace all of the good and bad that comes with it, and I enjoy it!

I'm with you 100% and don't feel offended in the slightest... and all 5 of my grandparents were born in Italy. (includes one step-grandmother) The only way I could be more Italian is if my parents or we all were also born in Italy! As for Native Americans, we had at least one college and one high school in our area that had to make changes due to the complaints of a few. Of course nobody cared that a whole lot more people were made upset, some even offended by the changes, and just to go and please so few. Unfortunately, that's the way things go in our society today and have been going for decades!
