Who monitors your Coumadin levels?

We will be moving to TV in late July to start building our new home and becoming full time residents. My husband is on Coumadin and since we do not have a family doc in TV yet where would we go to have his
Coumadin levels monitored? Do the Urgent Care Centers do it?

Thanks

Ann Marie

My husband goes to the Coumadin clinic at Florida Heart and Vascular. It is quick and scheduled. Gail monitors the coumadin and makes the adjustments.
The clinic is just North of the hospital and the appt. # is 352-728-0066.

Medicare and some Insurances cover the cost of the unit and the materials to monitor your INR 7 PT at home.

Thank you

Thanks so much for your speedy replies. I'm finding that changing doctors that we have trusted for many years is one of the hardest things to do.

You also might look into Munro Heart on 441 across the highway from Lowe's. I went there for my diabetes class. The urgent care places might as well, until you can find a primary physician.

Hubby has it done at the new VA Clinic, and I have it done at my oncologist's office (Ocala Oncology in Oakland Hills, Lady Lake across from Wal-Mart on Rte 441).

Dr Im who's office is an emergency care facility off Rte 466 near the Super Wal-Mart also does Coumadin blood checks.

Never knew how important this is. My brother who was supposed to take his meds while assisted by his wife did so unassisted one day and took to much and bled to death so be careful:sad::spoken:
