Thinking of moving to TV

My wife and I are thinking of relocating to TV and we have a few questions.
What percentage of residents are snow birds?
My wife may have to work and we are wondering what the prospects for part time work are?
We are not wealthy and we would like to make sure that there are middle class people living there.

Welcome to TOTV!!!

Guesstimates seem to be that around 60% of the residents are full-time. All I know is that the volume of people in TV increases dramatically during the wintertime!

Part-time work: If you are in a medical related field, you'd be in fairly good shape for a shot at decent employment. Other than that, reasonable wages seem to be hard to come by around the area. If you have something unique to offer, perhaps some type of self-employed small business would be good to consider.

Middle class? To me, TV strikes me as being a perfect slice of middle class America. :)

Looking for employment

If you want to say what kind of work you wife is looking for, there are all kinds of opportunities in and around the Villages. If you wish to send me a private note I can let you know of some present opportunities....

R&D37:

:welcome: to TOTV.

You can google www.thevillages/careers and it will show you what is avaliable in TV.

You can try www.thedailysun for job postings.

Bill-n-Brillo hit the nail on the head as you will find most jobs will not pay what other parts of pay in terms of hourly salary unless you have specialized skills.

I am a middle class wannabee type person.

Best wishes as you move towards your dreams.

Rickanddellie37. Welcome to TOTV. I'm a single woman, not wealthy. I would consider myself middle class, and I don't see a problem fitting in at TV. Home prices range from $61,000 to $800,000+, so there is a home for just about any budget in TV. According to another poster: -Average Home Price for 2011 - $220,000.00, but there are many nice homes listed for under $170K. If you have time to come down to TV, call TV's sales office to arrange a Lifestyle Preview visit to see TV up close and personal. I believe these visits range from 4 to 7 days, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. If I do decide to relocate to TV in the future, I will most likely have to work, part-time for at least a few years to supplement my retirement income, especially considering all the debate about what will happen to Social Security in the future, especially for those born toward the later years of the Baby Boom. Best of luck to you and your wife. :welcome:

Bill. Here is another slice of sensible advice and a perfect assessment. I really respect your ability to see the bottom line and your realistic bent toward things. I would just have to think you are from Ohio, if I didn't KNOW you are from Ohio.

Your advice to price our home as "low as we could stomach" was very good advice indeed.

Thank you.

Your Buckeye friend,
Gracie

PLUS, you are always diplomatic and kind and you choose your disagreements carefully.

Gracie, you make me blush. Thank you for the kind words.

Bill :)
