security issues
Now I now that I'm a 59 year old person who most of the time fumbles with my computer, but three weeks ago I had AT&T for my IP and I had no problems with the information bar blocking web sites. Now I have Centurylink for my IP and every page has security issues. I called Centurylink and they told me the problem is my computer. When I told them I didn't have any problems when I had AT&T, they didn't have an explanation. I have lowered my security (with no inprovement), I have set everything to the default setting (with no inprovement). any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you have an anti-virus program installed, check its settings.
The next logical step, which was previously suggested, is to try another computer on your network. Did you get a new router when you switched your ISP? If so, check its settings or call the manufacturer. One last thing to try and be careful doing so, is if you have a modem and a router ( 2 separate boxes as opposed to one box that serves as both a router and modem), try to eliminate the router by connected a cat 5 cable directly from your computer to the modem. If the problem goes away, the problem is with your router. Good luck! |
Perhaps firewall not turned on? I am not in TV now, but in February I did a Centurylink internet self-install using the provided integrated modem/router unit. I have had no problems moving my laptop between Comcast and Centurylink ISPs. The laptop has Norton Security Suite.
Sorry, but I just don't remember where the firewall settings are. |
