The U. of Florida @ Gainesville has a dental program. You can get dental work done there. Albeit by students, under direction of DDS. I have NOT gotten any work done there. My sis-in-law had $9600. ( Villages Prices) of dental work done @ U of F for less than 1500. NOT in The Villages BUT........price is right.

I have not used this facility but did regularly go to a dental school in Portland, when we lived in Maine, and it was very impressive and so reasonable. Thanks for the info about the school in Gainesville.

A perfect example of an "oxymoron"!

I have been very happy with the service and fees at Dr. Forrest Jerkins in Fruitland Park. I went there upon the recommendation of a neighbor when I had an emergency. I was seen promptly, the evaluation and treatment were accurate and effective. There was no upselling of additional services, and the fees were reasonable.

I subsequently returned for a regular checkup and they discovered further work needed that I was already aware of. The work was performed at a reasonable cost. The atmosphere in the office is very comfortable, and professional at the same time.

Why on earth would this be an oxymoron? The best dentist I ever used was also one of the least expensive. When he retired we switched dentists several times before we found one we liked. He isn't the least expensive but he certainly isn't the highest priced either. I see no connection between price and quality with dental care.

Amen bluedog. I have found that the expensive are often the greedy more concerned in making a fast buck rather than the treatment of the patient.

And just what quality dentist do you know who charges significantly less than expensive greedy ones you refer to? Quality by the way suggests more experience, lots more, than you will get at a student clinic. Sounds like you might be a candidate for the Wall St. protest movement.

Still think oxymoron is correct!

You should probably leave this comment [and attitude] over in the political forum. You'll be a star over there...

Just saying...

Has anyone used Magnolia Dental with Dr. Gaud and Dr. Weinstock?

They are offering to do 3 crows @ 399.00 minimum of 3 crowns...

The price almost seems to good to be true.

But what if you only have one or two crowns that need work. Do they "manufacture" more to make three?

I can see where they would find enough to make three but would that be necessary dental work or just $$$ for them?

About a year ago, Dr. Gaud did a filling for me. The next day, the tooth broke. When I went back, they assured me that one had nothing to do with the other, but they could fix it for $500. I asked for copies of my xrays and got out of there as fast as I could. I currently use Dr. Rheem Jaber at Palm Ridge Dental who is fantastic, and was able to fix my broken tooth for far less.

I went to Dr. Ta on Buenos Aires. I thought she was very good and the office staff is very nice.
