Any shooters in the Villages?

I like to restore and fire ole mil-sup rifles.

I understand that there is a range nearby?

Any one into shooting?

Rex

Ya bettcha. Got an original M1 Garand 1956. There are lots of ranges around TV. Google Ocala Gun Club. We will be arriving in TV on Tuesday to become full timers. Send me a message and I will get in touch with you.

I also do IDPA,IPSC and want to get into bowling pin shooting. There is even a steel challenge at one of the clubs. Do you do any CAS? Lots of CAS clubs in FL.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Kathie,

We are arriving Tuesday. Thinking about getting up a team of shooters from the Village, both boy and girls. Lots of safe shooting fun.

KathieI 07-09-2011 11:27 PM

Figmo, we have another shooter arriving on Tuesday. Its LadyDoc's hubs so we should all get together some time soon and do some target practice. Once he gets here we can see when we can schedule something.

looking for bulls eye shooting. Haven't fornd any yet.

Figmo Bohica 07-10-2011 05:39 PM

Bulls eye guy. Google Ocala Gun Club. When I read their site I think they have a Bulls eye club as part of the main club.

I shoot about twice a month at The Gun Store range on Rt 44. Closest range to me plus only $9. No A/C though. They have an IDPA league and occasional bowling pin shoot. I used to be heavily into competitive shooting but stopped a few years ago due to some nerve damage. I sold off 28 long arms before I moved here. I currently just practice shooting my self defense guns. I stopped buying guns that are not working guns. Was getting too expensive as I was buying two a month just because I liked them and had to own them. :D

Not to mention stocking up on all the various calibers in ammo. I used to belong to a gun club in NJ and had 24/7 access to an indoor range and daylight access to our outdoor range that was just mere minutes from my house. I would shoot 4-5 times a week and compete every Saturday and Sunday plus some Wednesday nights. We had some good shooters like JJ Racaza and David Olhasso shoot our matches along with some other sponsered guys. JJ was on the first Top Shot TV show and David, at the time, was ranked 10th in the world. It was fun and exciting and our indoor range was comfortable, had a nice lounge area with snacks and kitchen and provided a nice place for guys to hang out and talk and show guns. Plus if the wife kicked you out there was a couch that folded out to a bed. It was also so convenient that I could go there to shoot a box of 50 rounds and be back home in under an hour. Now I think the closest outdoor range is about an hour away and the indoor range is not air conditioned and pretty old looking compared to the modern ones I am used to.

With the price of ammo these days, except 22 which give me no thrill, it costs me close to a hundred dollars each range visit and that has to stop soon. Right now I am breaking in 5 new guns and testing new ammo but that will end next week. After that I will not shoot until the weather cools down or I find someone willing to drive me to one of the new ranges in Ocala.

I miss the days when I could pop by the outdoor range on a weekend and shoot my friend's guns to see what they were like. In Texas it was even better as we had a group of about 5 of us who would trade guns among us so we all got to shoot and briefly own the newest and greatest guns produced at the time. When I moved here I found out that I was now left eye dominent which explained the problems I was having shooting sporting clays and long guns. For my handguns it is easy to fix by simply tilting the gun a little left so that the sights are under my left eye. For long guns I just do not want to learn to shoot lefty so I gave up on them.

Aim and SOG are the best places I found for ammo.
I had the sane problem with my eyes..so I tend to move the front sight blade on European rifles or just the rear sight on US types.

Another good place for ammo is http://www.cccammo.com I have a 9mm 1911 that does not like reloads and the last time I looked 500 rds where $123.00 delivered to the door.

I am into reloading and that keeps the cost of ammo down. I only rekoad what shoot, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, .223/5.56mm NATO and 30-06.

I am going to miss my old place. Had a gun range right out my back door. Now will have to join a gun club.
