Has anyone building now....

Those of you building now... Are any of you working with T & D from the start so everything can be done when you move in.

If you look at the video regarding the new models they mention you can meet with T & D about putting in pools and spas while they are building the house.

I would like to have them put in our birdcage and the cement before we move in as it seems "stupid" to put it all in and then have to remove the sprinklers, sod, etc to put in the Birdcage.

Or.... am I missing something????

We are about to close on our home in 10 days and we had T&D put in our pool and birdcage. First we made our selections for the house and then we went over to T&D to make our selections for our pool. If you know that you are going to do a birdcage, then you should put it in during construction because of the reasons you listed, sprinklers, sod... TV gives you more options now with dealing with T&D and their prices are better than they were a year ago.
Where and what model are you building?
Linda

We will be down in December to start construction on our Begonia in Sanibel. We want a birdcage put in the back and a doggie door. Both we have heard T & D will do. I read somewhere on here that if we don't take the cement all the way out, we can put some sort of mulch out there providing a spot for our dogs to go.

I would like this all done from the get go if we can. I just don't know if they will work with us if we aren't putting in a pool.

You should give them a call and they can answer all your questions.

Thanks!

I was going to send a note to my sales rep. I wanted to know from the people who have used them and how it was working for them.

Are you building your Begonia on Bradford Loop?

If you get a pool/birdcage done while the house is being built then it will cost you more than if you do it later. Reason for that is The Villages adds on their cut to whatever T&D charges them for the work. I have heard from some they have saved as much as $10k by doing the work after closing on the house.

Angie: I have heard of folks who have "birdcaged" a backyard area for their dogs like you are planning, but they chose to leave the sod in place. In fact, I saw such a design when I was searching pre-owned TV homes.

It's a bit of an unusual idea but it does create a larger area for pets, and costs less to do. And if you don't like it, you could always go back and concrete the
area.

Just a thought....

That being said... I've heard some say that they could get the work done for $10,000 less by not going through T & D but felt it was fair because they got good service... I'm not sure I want to pay $10,000 for service. :cryin2:

That would be a GREAT idea, if I was planning on the whole birdcage beingyard, but I wasn't planning on the whole birdcage being for the boys. Just a portion of it. They are poodles and don't need a lot of space to ummm do it....

Where we live now, we have a doggie door and they can come and go as needed. I'm not sure I'm ready to take them out every time they feel the urge, or are just messing with me.

We just contracted to build on Bradford loop including a bird cage built by the villages for roughly 20.00 a sq foot. The Villages still builds bird cage only. It included a 24" wall base around the cage.

The birdcage and the concrete? What do you mean a 24" wall base around it?
