Apple Delete Key

I've had MicroSoft forever. I got tired of all their issues and went Apple this time. I have one problem I'd like to correct if possible. Why does the delete key delete in the opposite direction. Being an avid MS Word user (I used CrossOver to install MS 2008) I am used to deleting from left to right.

WAIT!!!! This might not be a Word issue as my email also deletes backwards. Is there a setting in Apple application somewhere to reverse the direction?

I've used a Mac for 20 years and the delete key always deletes text from right to left. I don't know of an alternative solution.

Hi Tom,
Try standing on your head. :D

Backspace?

It's been years since I drove a MAC, but I suspect backspace key (or the MAC equivalent) does the trick. But then my brain is waterlogged from swimming.

At least you can swim without sinking. PS: Tried the shift key with the delete ket. Also tried the alt key. The deletion still goes from right to left.

I use MAC and if you get the numeric key pad there is a 2nd delete key.

Try using the fn key on the bottom left corner at the same time you use the delete key.

Pturner 07-21-2011 10:09 PM

... or simpler still, pop the key off and re-insert it upside down. :D

Your welcome. I bought my Mac 7 months ago and love it.

After so many years with MS I am having a little trouble adjusting to the new way of life. One step at a time. I still have my other computer as a backup but intend to ditch it when I can master Apple. Thanks again.

Which Apple computer did you get?

Mike

The IMAC all in one. I like it. Like I said, a few issues I need to figure out. But in the long run, I believe switching to Apple will be a smart move.

Tom, an easy fix...just place your screen in front of a mirror and as you delete, just look at the mirror.
