Here is why our government is broken.

Won't it be great to have them take over all healthcare delivery and financing? Township, city, state, regional and national level bureaucrats will have to stop working and campaign for office every 1 or 2 years, and if the yearly budget is exhausted, too bad! Wait until the next bureau session in a couple of months or wait until the new fiscal year begins. Or wait until the local bureaus get past the impasse they have with Congress and the impasse the Congress has with the President.

You have a good point. If there was ever evidence that our government is broken...that our beloved democracy is broken and totally dysfunctional...we're looking at it every day on the news. The people who occupy the 535 places that run our country are incapable of separating their respective ideologies from what is apparent to so many as what is in the best intertest of the country.

As I'm writing this the Speraker of the House is on TV saying that what is going on right now is a "serious debate". Haven't we run out of time for debates? It seems to me that these guys are fully prepared to run this country off a financial cliff just to protect their respective ideological requirements and satisfy their "base voters".

What's scary is that there aren't even two parties the disagree with one another. It seems to me that there are at least four parties at the table that were elected--the Democrats, the centrist Republicans, the Tea Party and the White House. But there's another party at the table who has the final vote on how American's lives will change if the others can't negotiate an agreement--the financial markets.

I think the party with the biggest vote, the final vote, is losing patience. Watch what happens to the markets on Monday. If you want a clue, watch what the futures markets do over the weekend. Get ready for some really bad news--some really expensive news for all of us--that results from our broken government.

Guess what? The House of Representatives doesn't think all this is important enough to even meet over the weekend. I guess maybe that have family picnics or golf games scheduled, or maybe a weekend trip with some lobbyists.
