St Louis, MO to The Villages yay!!

Well, we sold our house in St. Louis county, MO in 9 days and we bought a home in Hemmingway, closing in Late Aug. We are so excited, can't wait to start enjoying all the activities. Hope to make a lot of new friends.

Any suggestions on the best way to meet the neighbors in Hemmingway? Also, are people pretty open to making new friends....we would love to have other couples to go out to eat with or play board games or cards in the evening?
It's a big move but I'm sure we're going to love it there.

Wynn, I'm a TV wannabee, but just wanted to congratulate you on your upcoming move to TV. Lucky you to have sold your home in 9 days! Enjoy! :welcome:

Welcome to TV.....and TOTV!!

Best way to meet your neighbors? Take some walks through the area - stop and talk with people you see - knock on some doors, just to introduce yourself - find our if there are any neighborhood gatherings scheduled - wave to everyone you see - and the sure-fire way............stop your golf cart anywhere and pull out a map. There will ALWAYS be someone who'll ask if you need directions or any help!!

Again, welcome!

Bill :)

HI Wynn,
How great to have sold your home so quickly. We are closing on our home in St. James this Tuesday, and our home in VA is closing the end of August. From what I read and see there are plenty of people that love to play cards and board games. My husband and I play cards all the time. We play Texas Hold'em, Hand and Foot, another game called May I, Golf card game and I play Canasta. Keep in touch with me through this site and maybe we can get a card game going. You can always send me a pm also. We will be going back and forth to VA after closing in TV, and we will be moving to live there probably the end of August...best of luck to you!
Linda

Hi Wynn,
Congratulations on your sale.
We just recently sold our home & are now in TV waiting to close on our home in Buttonwood. I lived in St Louis county some time ago, too. Loved it there but there is no place quite like TV. So far, we have found people to be friendly & welcoming.

Wynnshanks:

Welcome to TOTV and to TV. You're going to love it!

And, while making new friends from all over is part of the wonder of TV, it's also nice to reminisce with folks from "home."

So, know that you're welcome at:

**The Saint Louis Club. Usually the first Wed of the month, 6pm, Chatham Rec Center. (no August meeting)

**Central States Club. Usually the fourth Thu of the month, 6pm, Canal Street Rec Center.

Of course, many of the Saint Louis Club members also belong to the Central States Club. Either club is great fun.

Check the Recreation News the week before to verify.

After 40-plus years in the Central West End, my last six years in TV have been wonderful!

Question about Central States Club

Don't know if TV has an Illinois Club. I saw an Iowa Club meeting posted in the Rec. Center newsletter earlier this month while I was in TV. Are former Illinois residents welcome to join the Central States Club?

Congratulations!!! You made it!

Welcome to TV... Yeah... Another one made it!!!! :BigApplause::BigApplause::BigApplause:

The Villages used to have several Illinois clubs... There are so many of us there that if they don't, there should be!

Schaumberger:

Central States are considered to be MO, KS, AR, NE, IA.

Sorry, no Illinoisans. :(

Some Illinoisans might, of course, be embarrassed to admit that they come from a state with two successive governors in the slammer! :cryin2:

Actually only one governor in the slammer. One probably to be sentenced. BUT, we do have the best politicians money can buy.

 Wynnshanks,

Welcome to TV and TOTV! Yes, people here are open to making new friends. It's one of my favorite flavors of TV's famous Kool refreshing drink. You have already made an excellent first step by being friendly and outgoing yourself.

In addition to the great advice you have already received, there are regular card games at the rec. center that you are welcome to join. Here is a link to the most current Recreation News. It's free in print too and comes out every Thursday.

All best wishes to you!
:wine:

p.s., Love the Illinois posts. Too funny. :clap2:
