Florida License Plates in Italy
 

I have attached a photo of an SUV that was parked in Orvieto, Italy (About 1.5 miles from Rome) this weekend.

Note the Florida License Plates and the walker next to the drivers side door.

When did they build the bridge from The Villages to Italy??

I have been curious.... it sounds like you are currently in Italy because of work. I have had the luxury of visiting there only once, but in a certain place there I felt the same feeling I did here when I first walked around. It felt like Home, and I could have lived there forever.
It wasn't Rome, but Florence..... my Firenze.
Even though you will be coming here, will it be hard for you to leave?

I have to agree with you on Florence. When visitors ask us how we like Rome we generally respond, "We love Italy", Rome not as much.

There is loads of history and great things to do in Rome however when compared to Umbria, Tuscany, The Lake Areas, Florence etc; etc; it can pale in comparison. Living in Rome is a challenge with the ever increasing graffitti problems throughout the city and the ever challenging transit strikes which not surprisingly normally occur on a Friday or Monday.

That said, work brought us here and we are pleased to have been afforded this opportunity and we take full advantage of travel throughout Italy and the surrounding countries however when we finish the 3.5 year assignment, we will be ready to be Frogs in TV.

dear jack, the bridge has always been there. It's just that nobody wants to drive that far for an Italian dinner!

I could live in Italy, not Rome or Florence, but maybe in Tuscany around Radda or San Casciano or Castillina in Chianti. I love the hills, the views, the food, and of course the wine.

Back to jackz's photo. It is not often one would see a car in Italy with Florida plates and a walker along side.

OK, Jack, you're in Rome and I haven't been there since 1985 and my memory may be hazy, but ...

I remember stopping in Orvieto as the midway point between Rome and Florence, and it was a lot more than 1.5 miles from Rome.

I was on a tour bus and I remember Orvieto as being this lovely village at the top of a mountain. Great restaurant within sight of the local cathedral, which was very impressive, especially lit up after dinner.

I hope the years haven't melded memories of several cities into one.

we liked Rome and in Tuscany the coastal town of Cecina.

You are correct about the distance which is why I had edited my post. Look at the bottom of the post and you will see my correction from 1.5 miles to 1.5 hours.

I'd hate to pay for fuel for that gas guzzler. When we lived in Italy we drove a Fiat. American cars were few and far between.
