New golf course Southern Star Executive ratings

I was looking on the Course Selection Guide and the Villages map for the Southern Star Executive course. Is this course open? If so, what is the course number needed to make a tee time? Can anyone rate this course? Thanks.

The new Southern Star Executive course is made up of holes #5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 & 13 of what was previously the 18 hole Yankee Clipper course. The new starter shack is at the newly opened Sterling Heights Rec Center on St. Charles.

I think number 1 on Yankee and number 1 on Southern could be the toughest opening holes of any executive course in TV. First swing of the day over the water with many folks hanging around the practice putting green.... loosen your grip, take a breath and let it go

When you say rate I am assuming you mean difficulty, not conditions. If you mean conditions I have been gone for a few weeks but it was dry most of the year with slow greens. If you mean difficulty, I think it deserves a 4. golfthevillages.com has the rating of Yankee Clipper as a three, which I think is low. Unclear what the executive course ratings mean. They may be trying to represent the slope rating and not the course rating???

Yankee/Southern certainly is much easier for a golfer that cannot consistently carry a golf ball 170 yards than a course like Pelican, but for the scratch golfer (not that I know any :)), I think it is as hard or harder to shoot par there when compared to a place like Amberwood (one of my favorites) which is a four. If I recall there are least 5 holes over 175 yards.

IMO, Southern is a 3.8, Yankee is a 4.3 :D

Just my opinion obviously.

The 1st hole at Pelican is very intimating, too. I always take a few extra balls when I play there. (not that I need them : )

I read something about mothd ago that stated Yankee would be a level 3 and southern Star a Level 4. Don't know if anything has changed. Frankly don't understand how Executive courses get there ratings? I have played Level 2 that play harder than Leel 4's...perhaps it is that I am simply play level 1 on a Level 2:D
