Hire Errand Runner, Driver etal for Disabled?

I plan to try out TV this winter. I have MS and need assistance with a number of tasks. Current plan is to hire local folks to run errands, walk dog, drive me locally, do laundry, etc. At home, this has been fairly easy to do - as people are looking for extra cash. So a very part time job appeals.

Before I sign a lease - I began to wonder/worry if people in TV will be interested. Anyone have an opinion if my plan will work? Thanks.

Tinker, the company that cleans my house does many of the services you mention - if you want their info PM me and I'll give you their phone # or web site and you can check out for yourself.

But the short answer to your questions is "COME ON DOWN!" You'll find plenty of help available here.

your plan to try it for one winter first, makes sense. i am disabled and hire folks to clean, run errands etc but i drive my golf cart to handle some things on my own within the community. and i use a non emergency medical van for a few longer distance doctor appointments.
it's all doable but you may want to check prices and budget accordingly.

I'm sure this is something Redwitch would do. Send her a PM.

Thanks for your reply. Encouraging to hear you successfully handle the same issues. I'm wondering if eventually I can modify a golf cart to be hands only operated.

Converting a cart to hands only is pretty easy. I've seen a few of them around here. I think most of the dealers can convert a cart for you if you buy from them and I'm pretty sure some of the repairmen have the kits or know where to get them if you end up buying from a private party.

Thanks for the referral. I sent her an email and hopefully we will connect. Appreciate it.

I would agree with trying Redwitch as well.

If that does not work, you might try ad ad on Craigslist in Ocala. I wanted to hire a person to work one day a week taking care of my homes. I placed an ad there and got almost 200 responses for folks looking for one day a week work. Now about 100 plus were just not viable, but I got it down to 10 who I interviewed on the phone, narrowed that down to 3 who I met with and hired one. So far it's working out very well and if that changes, I will just do another ad and start over.

Great idea. I wondered if TV residents used Craigs' List. Good to know they do!

Just go to Ocala Craigslist, search on Villages and you pull up over a thousand posts.
