With all that's been going on lately....

A 15 year old girl holds hands with her 1 year old son. People call her a slut, no one knows she was raped at 13. People call another Guy fat. No one knows he has a serious disease causing him to be overweight . People call an old man ugly. No one knew he had a serious injury to his face while fighting for our country in the war.

Think before you judge.....

I agree..it's way too easy to make a judgement without knowing the facts.

IAMDMRAE 08-07-2011 09:43 PM

I hate to admit it but you make some good points. There are exceptions to the rules. Just not that many.

You're 'right on' Angie, and as for the second one, it's more that disease per se that can be a contributing factor in weight problems. I know, because I fit into that catagory on both the name calling and the cause! However, I must say that those I've met in person or confided in about my problem, have been nothing but wonderful to me despite it! Must be that TV friendlyness that's talked about... so far at least!

Years ago, a nice fellow who ran the shipping & receiving dept. of a gear company my trucking company did a lot of business with was often teased about the awful toupee he wore. I never did participate in that, since his was an important account of my company and it's not my thing to mock people like that, but I admit, I didn't stick up for him either.

Well, I found out later on after he was absent from his post for a while, that he was fighting cancer and that was the cause of his condition and he tried to maintain his dignity as best he could. He didn't live much longer after his absence from work. I never forgot this, and even though I never once participated in the "jokes", I still felt guilty for a long time.

The reason for the post!

Hi Big Lew... I posted this because there were some people coming on and posting mean spirited posts for no reason and making quick judgments. It is a reminder to all (including me) to be careful of what you post as it can be hurtful.

Clearly this doesn't apply to you, so not to worry....

Hey Skyguy79... Remember that trick you taught me??? I found just the place to use it! :highfive:

Angie: remember last month when I posted that you are one of the TOTVers whom I would prefer to not cross? The above post is an example why.
You said a lot w/out saying much. Well done.

I read a story once where the writer was in a hospital waiting room and was annoyed at a bunch of rowdy children. The writer choose not to say anything but the longer it went on, the more impatient he became. Finally, a man came into the waiting room and whispered to him:

"I'm sorry my children have been so noisy. Their Mother just died and I am trying to figure out how to tell them."

BigLew 08-10-2011 09:00 AM

I can see why you need a reminder

especially when you are using snide comments! Skyguy when you find out the trick reevaluate angie's comments above and see if I'm not right.
As it was you were all quick to judge me after I questioned the appearance of an otherwise meaningless standalone post, angie = let she without sin cast the first comment chiloutchilout
