Cooking in the Crock Pot now...

I read about this gal a while ago, Stephanie O'Dea. She challenged herself in 2008 to use her crock pot every day for a year. Some of the recipes where outstanding, others not so much. She is very honest about the results.

I picked up two of her cookbooks at Borders and all I can say is YUM. I made her 40 Garlic Clove Chicken and the smell, while it was cooking, was so good I could hardly stand it.

I tried making her Orange and Apricot Pork Chops, the recipe said cook for 8 hours, well my ended up way way over cooked so I am trying it again this afternoon. I am going to check it at 4 hours and see how things are coming along. I think my Crock Pots just are way hotter than hers.

If you are interested in her recipes, they are posted on her blog at this site. http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

Gail, I have a confession, I have never used a crock pot even though I have two of them and LOVE the concept...wait, I take that back...a couple of years ago I decided to make a stew...it was beautiful...the meat, the veggies, the seasoning. Before leaving for work, I turned the pot on...I thought low might be too low and I was afraid to put it on high so I put it in the middle...medium. When I got home 8 hours later, I realized there is no medium! I was so disappointed and felt like a moron explaining to Steve why I was throwing away what was supposed to be hot stew but was, instead, bacteria laden water...:yuck:

Trish, try this one.... http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2009...c-chicken.html

I cooked it for about 5 1/2 hours. OMG, it was really good!

When I use my crock pot, I am either working from home or it is the weekend. That way I can keep an eye on it.

Gail I use my crock pot a lot during the winter months and have pretty much made every dish possible. Yummm, I love the 40 Clove Garlic Chicken, but my favorite is the pot roast as the meat is so tender.

Did you know you can make desserts in the crock pot? I make pineapple cobbler which is awesome, cherry or blueberry cobbler spoon dessert. Cook them on high for 2 hours, let them cool for a hour and throw some cool whip on top and its so good and easy too. I can share the dessert recipe with you, if you like.

Will be seeing you real soon!!!!!
