Glenview country club-worst service ever

Last Saturday, I took my Mom to have burgers at the Glenview Country Club. We were seated promptly, our waitress arrived shortly after that and took our order. The table next to us complained about 2 burgers being over cooked so she took them back. About 15 mins later she returned with that tables 2 new burgers and our ice teas. She then took another table's order and left. About 20 mins later she went to chat with those customers and told us our meal would be out shortly, that there had been a huge party and that was slowing down orders. If that were true, how is it that another table who had a different waitress, who had ordered after us got their burgers??? She left the area again, came back and again said it would be out soon...the table she had taken their order from after us now got their food-burgers and additional drinks, we still hadn't gotten a refill or even asked if we wanted anything. When I asked her how it was that table received their order before us she said, "I put both your orders in at the same time" since we arrived 20 minutes before they did that didn't seem right...but not once did she apologize for the slow service or her error in not placing our order on time. Finally, after 50 minutes our food came and while it was hot, that's all I can say that was good about it. After paying the check, I walked to the front and requested the opportunity to speak to the manager.

A man in an apron said I could speak with him, although he never identified who he was...he made excuses for everything, stated that may be it was a temperature issue with ours-we ordered Medium which is the rarest you can order there, told us "What did we expect coming to a promotional luncheon?" Never once apologized and dismissed me by sarcastically saying have a nice day.

I have always been very happy with Glenview CC. The food is excellent and I have always had very good service.

I actually find it hard to believe that someone in a managerial role would say something like "what did you expect for a promotional meal".

I would suggest you try Glenview CC again - maybe sometime during the week - for their $12.95 special summer menu in the evening. Get there for Happy Hour, have a drink, and ask for a table by the window so you can look out on the golf course. I am sure you will be happy you did this to give them a second chance.

I am so sorry to hear this. We are renting near there now and hadn't been there to eat for over a year and went with friends last week. We had very good service and the most deee-lish-us tuna and chicken salad with fruit I have ever put in my mouth. Everyone at the table seemed pleased with their choices too.

I am hoping it was just a fluke.

I hope you have good service and great food if you try it again.

The waitress made a mistake and should have apologized and the manager should have gifted the meal. You were absoultely right.

I went there with my golfing buddies for Sunday Brunch a couple weeks ago. One word, fantastic!!!

Maybe it's just me, but it seems many times when someone gets on & bad mouths a restaurant, it's their 1st. or 2nd. post. Hmmmmm

I found it hard to believe as well that a Manager would speak to me that way but it happened...as I have no reason to make it up. And yes it might have been a fluke that I had poor service and would have considered giving it another try had it not been for the Manager's attitude. I wasn't even wanting anything to make up for it...just someone to accept that this happened and to make it a better experience for the next time.

My wife and I are new to TV (we close on our house next week) and to TOTV, but that does not make her observations any less true or accurate. I encouraged her to open an account on TOTV so she could let others know about her bad experience (and by the way, my mother-in-law, who she took to lunch during this reported incident is a long time TV resident and was VERY displeased with the service).

If someone posts as a newbie, they have to start somewhere--perhaps you would be a little less critical if they posted hundreds of posts first saying how great TV is BEFORE they are allowed to post a criticism?

We plan on being active community member and will enjoy living in TV full time. We look to TOTV for useful information (as well as to provide it). Instead of questioning someone's first or second post, why not try welcoming them to the community?

I appreciate that & sorry to hear you had bad service. I haven't been to Glenview in years. Didn't mean to sound critical.
It's just I know some people who registered here after they have been fired & one who's kid got fired & trashed where they used to work.

Sorry this experience put a bad taste in your mouth (so to speak). We enjoy Glenview food and service.

Thanks for replying and perhaps we were a little overly sensitive to your initial response.

My wife and I are not the type to complain (after living in a third world country, on an island for many years we have been accustomed to "island time") and we are definitely not the type who want to be comped a free meal if things are not perfect. All could have been made better if the waitress OR the manager simply apologized. Neither one did.

Doesn't make it untrue...what axe would this person have to grind?

I read the post and it seemed sincere to me. EVERY restaurant can have a bad day.

Other posters gave the original poster good advice... give it another chance & try it again.

I like Glenview and never had a bad experience there.

Its responses like this that devalue people's opinions & chase people off this board.

And then to say you haven't been there for years......

Agree that you were owed an apology at the very least. I wonder if the guy in apron who came out and didn't offer his name really was the manager? If so, he'd be better "suited" for another line of work.

I don't think my remark was that bad. I certainly don't think it would chase anyone off the boards here. I came right back and apologized !
