I received this notification today about the sports pool for those interested:

Subject: Closings - Recreation Centers
Date: 8/25/2011

In our efforts to keep our facilities in excellent condition the Lake Miona Sports Pool will be undergoing property improvements Monday September 12, 2011 through Friday September 23, 2011 and will be unavailable for use. The pool will re-open Saturday September 24, 2011, weather permitting. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes but feel free to use other facilities in the area. For further information please call Lake Miona Regional Recreation Center at 430-2950.

I wonder if that means they are going to have lane lines painted on the bottom? Its the only sports pool in The Villages that doesn't have them. That would be awesome - we could actually do some real lap swimming there.

Heard through the grapevine that there is a "sinkhole" in the bottom of the pool that needs to be repaired. Rumor? Not sure.

Colony Cottage has a notice of a September closing of the sports pool - I believe it's the last week in September - for maintenance.

A sinkhole?
 

Yes, there is a sink hole that needs repair. I play water volleyball there and 1/4 of the pool has been shut off for a while to avoid injury from the small hole.
