No baby pools?
 

Rather surprised that there are no baby pools at the family pools. We were at Sterling Heights a few weeks ago when a family with a little one in a bathing suit came in, looked around, and left. I'm thinking it was due to a lack of a baby pool. Anyone have the answer?

Maybe it's a liability issue?

The Villages is an adult community, with some areas set up for younger guests. If kiddie pools are set up, how much would they be utilized? In the summer, maybe a bit, but in reality, not that much.

If I remember correctly, some of the pools might have a rather large first step, allowing that area to be used for youngsters...with supervision of course.

When some in the area have very young grandchildren visiting, they buy a plastic or inflatable pool for their yard and set it up when needed. When not in use, it's put away till needed for the next water time. Doesn't take but a minute to do so and fresh water for playing in is better than water that's been sitting out.

We use the Bacall pool when the kids are here and seen the long steps used effectively for toddlers (accompanied by adult).

1st step = 6 inches of water, second step = @ 1foot or more.

Always seems like everyone is having fun!

Probably the same reason there are not swing sets at every rec center.

This discussion comes up every now and then and not all that long ago there was much discussed about re: this. Everyone has an opinion on it. IF nothing else Granpa and Granma could invest in their own kiddie pool and put it out in the yard. Babies might be over-whelmed anyway at the adult pools! Just my humble opinion.

Those who feel strongly there should be baby pools could volunteer to have a special assessment added to their amenity fees...just funnin' with ya....keep the baby pools with the swing sets:D

Baby Pools at any public or private pool facility are regarded by maintenance people as "giant toilets" that need their own water filtration and sanitizing pump system, separate from the big main pool. If a baby pool doesn't have the separate filtration/sanitizing pump system of its own, it needs to be drained every day (to flush "the giant toilet") and refilled.

Many if not most states require the baby pool water to be separate from the big pool.....for good reason. Many parents absolutely REFUSE to put plastic pants on their babies/toddlers, and they won't even use Swimmies swim diapers.....they let them go in with no diaper at all and are shameless if the child poops in the pool.

Have seen this lazy "parenting" too many times at stately country clubs, not just public pools. Having baby pools in TV would be a constant maintenance and health department inspection problem.

Thanks for enlightening those of us who probably had no idea of the maintenance and health issue's regarding "baby pools". Seems much easier to just have an inflatable pool available for those few occassions when baby comes to visit.

I agree, remember times when Hacienda and orange blossom pools closed for 24 hours while cleaned (shocked/chlorinated) and treated for you know what (those little logs):D
