Comcast Digital Conversion

I know there are a couple of threads on this but I thought I would start a new one so that everyone is aware.

According to today's Daily Sun (8/27) on page C-10, the Comcast digital conversion will start next Tuesday for Orange Blossom, Spanish Springs and some parts of Marion County.

I live in Marion county and I was aware of the conversion but I have not received any letter telling me when it was going to occur so this was a surprise.

If you are in a targeted area or want to know what the heck I am talking about, please read the article on page C-10 or go to:

http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/FA...ital-migration

to read about it and to order the necessary equipment.

You can also pick up the DTA boxes at the local Comcast store in Summerfield and Leesburg. They are easy to install and can be activated via the computer at https://digitalnow.comcast.com/.

Comcast conversion

Conversion is a problem especially if you have an older TV.
Had conversion forced on us recently by Comcast at our Fort Lauderdale Condo and results were not good.
Both TVs in the Condo are old and neither TV can receive more than 6 channels. We received boxes etc from Comcast free but nether will operate at all now. We have exchanged boxes at Comcast store but again neither TV working.
Now have to schedule a Comcast serviceman in but I am sure that the reason they are not working is because TVs are old.
So be prepared for this here in the Villages.

Do remember that the conversion is a mandate from the government, not any particular cable company.

Mom has an older tv, without a built in digital tuner and things are working with the new little conversion boxes supplied.

I'm sorry that your tv's aren't working. Hopefully when the serviceman arrives, he/she can get things up and running. They might have to make an adjustment outside of your house at the main box.

The conversion happened for us yesterday, no problem at all. We hooked up all the various boxes they gave us, took a little fine tuning but it's all good.

Mudder.... did they give you any info about upcoming programming changes after conversion? Like additional HD channels.

Are they going to wait until all of the Villages is switched over before expanding service?

It just seems to me that the local Comcast office hasn't done much to get folks ready or to explain what new good stuff will come out of this conversion.

Comcast

I love the new conversion, it added a lot of new HD channel all for the same price. :coolsmiley::MOJE_whot:

MrDills...can you give a few examples of the new HD channels?

Comcast new upgrade

Before the change they had 40 HD channels now the have 90, I didn't count the pay channels like HBO,Showtime,Cinemax and etc, because I don't pay for those type of channels. It you want to check out the additions you can go to their web site. I like the new addition of Hallmark and MLB, they also added some more free sports channels.

thanks MrD...that sounds great. I'll check out their site. It also sounds like you get those channels as soon as you switch over and not after all of The Villages is done. Cool.

Oh boy, now I wish they would hurry up and get to my area.

Drat, I checked the site and it doesn't seem to have the additional channels listed at this time. Guess those of us not upgraded yet will have to be patient......grrrr...that's not one of my greatest virtues...lol.

You just have to block off some time, sit down and go thru all the new HD channels ! It's fun to find out what you 'll have, love it all, no time to watch it all!!

I'll do that, for sure, just don't know when my section of TV will have the complete upgrade.

Glad you're enjoying the new lineup. I look forward to it here.
