Key West Express

Has anybody taken the Key West Express? If so, how was the experience? Sounds like a good thing.

Posh, I looked into it last year when I saw someone post about going on it and having a good time. I think it was on TOTV, though I can't find that post when doing a search right now.

I grew up in the Keys and thought it would be a good way to take an occasional weekend trip down without having to make the drive. We still plan to give it a try after we get to move to The Villages.

Please post your experience if you do use it.

Rowdy return trip

We have a wonderful trip to the Keys, but we did not pick our seats wisely on the return. We wanted to play cards, and selected a table not far from the bar. BIG mistake. Patrons bellied up to the bar and ethusiastically did their best to drink the bar dry. People literally had to be helped off the boat when we landed. They could not navigate the ramp under their own steam. As the boat was full, we had to stay in our seats and listen to the rowdy, drunken crowd encourage some rather young (by our standards) gals to toss down their drinks ASAP. I would advise seats faaaaar away from the bar, then its all good. Enjoy.

key west express

We did it a few years ago out of Ft. Myers Beach. I wouldn't do a round trip in one day. We booked a motel and stayed a couple of days and then came back. The ride back was really rough and many people got sick even though the boat has stabilizers. I would recommend it but definately stay a couple of days.

We don't like the rowdy crowd either. Don't shy away from bars, just the pushy loud ones. Thanks for the heads up.
