No bathtubs??

In looking at the new home designs it appears to my wife and I that only the Premier Home Series includes bathtubs in the Master Bath. Are we missing something? Walk in showers are great, but a good soak is always appreciated. Are they add on items? But if so, then does the walk in shower go out the window because of space issues. I know that the Premier Home Series Master Bath space is big enough for a lot of add ons, but we do not want to spend so much on a home in TV ..... fixed income, lousy stock market returns, desire to spend all of our money on golf and vacations, etc....

For someone who likes to "soak" this would be a disappointment. When we first went to TV my question was... Can I have the tub removed as I could use the space on something else. Now... we want to know how much it would cost to take the tub out of the guest room bath and have it as a shower only.

I don't have your answer, but I think that as people get older, they find it harder to get in and out of tubs and much prefer showers... We never use ours in our home now....

I know I didn't answer your question, but maybe it gives a little insight.

Thanks Angie: Are you saying that my observation is correct? I hope my observation is wrong! With our old joints a good soak after strenuous activity is a pleasure. Hopefully, the strenuous activity will continue for a lot more years after we move to TV. We are coming for a visit late Fall, and I know all of our questions can be answered at that time, but we're psyched about TV and would like to find out as much as we can as soon as we can.

Several of the larger designer series homes have option for a soaking tub in addition to the walk in shower. Talk to your real estate agent and ask which models offer that option, or, if you are looking at re-sales, ask which ones have what you are looking for. I have seen many re-sales in the $260-280k range that have showers and soaking tubs in the MBath.

I was just looking at the Lantana and it has a tub.... Take a look... Very nice.

I shouldn't really answer the question as I don't live in TV yet so I'm really out of line to even answer this question. :ohdear:

Some designer homes have bathtubs...and it doesn't necessarily show on the home designs floor plans shown on TV web site. I have a Lantana with a walk in shower. I've seen Lantana models for sale that have a bathtub and a shower though the shower was a bit smaller than my walk in. The tub is placed where one of the sinks is and that sink is moved near the first. You'll have to look at individual homes to see. If you're looking for a new home, make that one of the criteria you must have. Not sure about the other design models. Not all spec homes are built exactly the same. Some are larger, some have different kitchen arrangements, others have walk in showers, different placement of sinks, etc.

I'm not a tub person, but I understand that some people really, really enjoy being in a tub of nice warm water, it's very relaxing.

We have a designer and love our walk-in shower in the master bath. Our guest bath has a bathtub/shower but we never use it. As far as I know, all designers have at least one tub.

If the link works, here is the option A bath for the Lantana. If the link does not work go to the villages .com, click on homes - new home gallery - designer homes - lantana - optional floor plan features. http://www.thevillages.com/homes/new...%20Options.pdf

bathtub vs shower

Have you considered a Hot tub? That would satisfy your end of day soak.

If the developers want to sell TV to the Brits, they'll have to have bathtubs in MB. They don't seem to like showers for some reason. I had to take bath everyday as the so called showers in London flat actually was a decoration, I think. It was a pain and in order to get a decent shower I needed to get shower pump which was expensive. Drip....drip:):)

When I was looking at models, our agent told me that a tub was an option. I too would like a tub, however, if I can't get one in the master bath, I would have no problem using the one in the guest bath..as a matter of fact, that's what I did on our lifestyle visit.

Having gone thru the process recently of choosing everything from roof to cabinet knobs, I built the Iris and did have the option of a bathtub in the master bath. I elected not to have it......love the Roman shower...no need for shower door.

The second bathroom came with bathtub which I wasn't all that thrilled about....but a friend thought it would be a good idea (aging process....not getting any younger, etc.). The bottom line, when I asked the Designer about the price, the bathtub would not be an upgrade....and any other would be. This gal of German heritage didn't hesitate for one second to take the tub!

The Begonia has an optional bath floor plan that will include a tub. it is shown on the Villages Design Gallery sight under optional floor plans. They call the options A, B and C usually for kitchens and baths. Hope this helps!

Has anyone ever removed the small guest bath and replaced it with a "claw foot" or something similar. That would solve the problem for us if possible. B. Johnson

A good soak in a warm/hot tub cannot be beat for relieving the stress caused by a bad outing on the golf course. But a nice warm shower for getting clean and refreshed is tops in my book. We have our jaccuzzi in the lanai for soaking away both the stress and aches, and sharing our day with each other. Works really well for us.
