pros & cons of finishing your garage floor?
Is there a need for it - if so - which product?

We did not finish it but the rust began to look bad so we covered it with indoor-outdoor carpeting. Two 8' wide strips fastened with doublesided tape at the ends has worked. Less than $100 and color too! (Wish we would have done it sooner)

I had real good luck with Sherwin Williams epoxy. Time consuming prep, but the hard shiny finish is super easy to keep clean. Also included in the kit is grit to mix in to make it skid-resistant, and colored flakes if you want to use them. The kit was on sale for about $100

Do you think there is a real need for it? I remember my neighbor in Cleveland did it & after a few yrs it didn't look so swell...

In my opinion it's a GARAGE floor. Us maccho guys like a few oil stains on the floor. It's a place we can go and not have the wife follow us around with a damp rag and broom. I told my wife when we moved here, she could pick the house, and I'll pick the garage.

The garage is an extension of the house and contains the laundry. I like it sparkling clean so I tiled it.

I used porcelain tile, impervious to stains, non-slip so it wouldn't be a problem when it got wet, and dark colored grout, so stains would not show.

It was an easy job and it's gorgeous!

used floor tiles and always get compliments on floor...We installed in less than 2 hours, just peel and stick!

I highly recommend what jebartle said. I have used them in a lot of clients house's and you cannot go wrong. They're so easy to install and they look great. great post jebartle.

What is the material of the floor tile used?

G-Floor which can be found at Samsvclub.com is a thick vinyl roll out mat. It's a little expensive due to the shipping. It looks great and protects the floor from all kinds of stains. Just roll it out and you're done.
