Auto & homeowners insurance

We're closing on our home in St. James in November & I'm looking for some advice on getting auto & home owners insurance thru one company. Does anyone out there have any helpful tips or agents phone #'s to get thai accomplished.
Thanking You in Advance

GEICO is my choice for both car and homeowners. Beats the others for rates, deductibles, and coverage.

Be sure you get sinkhole insurance, too. Some companies are not writing for that and it is very important.

ASI offers the best homeowners' insurance in Florida - your FL agent can provide details. You will also want to get a quote from Traveler's for your auto. Also, I suggest liability insurance for any damage you may accidently cause with your golf cart and a good umbrella policy for general liability. Insuring for these perils are the fundamentals of basic insurance in TV.

If you're a veteran, try USAA. Best. Service. Anywhere.

Has anyone really been able to get a company to cover both auto and home as new policies?

I have had USAA for years - they informed me they write thru ASI in Florida and that I would not get a multi-policy discount getting ASI coverage thru USAA (I already had ASI). It's my understanding that State Farm and Allstate were not writing new homeowners' policies in Florida either. Has that changed?

Is Geico writing new homeowners' policies in Florida?

Can someone who has done this recently (gotten homeowners and auto policies from the same company - and who didn't move from another location in Florida) respond? Would be great if you can do it, but I wasn't aware you could anymore.

AAA 352-753-2500 Auto, Ho Disc plus AAA disc. The only company I could find that writes both auto and ho insurance.

AAA just gave me a quote for both auto and homeowners yesterday. My agent's name is Kariann. I am changing from TV Ins Co.

Asi

Just received our premium for our homeowners insurance and see that it has increased by 29%. On the bill it states Increase due to a rate revision approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

This is a very big change in these trying times.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of change. The policy is now going on its 4th year. The original policy is through the villages and looked like a good deal.

If you changed from your original have you experienced these same changes and switched to a different insurance company, which one did you switch to.

Having just closed on a couryard villa in Tamarind Grove in July I visited "Villages Insurance" just off Spanish Springs Square, I believe it's owned by the Morse family.

We got wind damage and sink hole included for $503 a year, I had requested ASI initially since I heard they were reasonable but she said they are not taking anymore new clients. So they signed us up with Integrity Insurance.

For the car as a veteran I went with USAA on my 2011 Mazda 3 Grand Touring 5 door hatchback. Fortunately I just bought this car because anything bigger would not fit in our garage with a golf cart.

I bought this car in Maryland in March and my insurer raised my rates double because they said this was a sports car. Even though it's 4 cylinder and I've never filed a claim with them in twenty years, I said no thanks. Since I knew I would be moving in a couple of months I switched to USAA at that time and they were half the price.

We won't know our new rate until April, but we were warned that rates are going up due to hte increase in sink hole claims. In any case, we are still paying less for home insurance here then we were before we moved.

AAA was less that The Villages on our villa but quoted more on the golf cart. We insured truck and villa with AAA but stayed with The Villages Insurance on the golf cart.
