Goodbye GOP Hello DEM
 

I have had a good nights sleep and have made a major (for me) political decision. Coming from a farming childhood and speeding 22 years in the military, I have always been and voted Republican. This site has changed my way of thinking. When I voice my opinion on the debt and other GOP positions, no one on here ever becomes insulting to me. When I mention any agreement with a liberal issue, the 6 PAC jump on me like a pack of wild dogs. So, if I can be accepted as a Conservative Democrat, I would welcome a chance to join the cause.
Since it is obvious to me that being a Republican or tea member requires such a narrow minded, slander anyone with a different point of view approach, I am no longer able to support the GOP. I have tried for months to take a lets talk approach to issues only to be slammed by the 6 PAC who seem to believe its my way or go to h***. Thats not the American way. To make my point, I will predict here and now, that my message will bring on hate from the right. They will say negative things that will support my decision to change parties. Their hate filled rhetoric is so deeply embedded, they will not be able to stop themselves from spewing insults. Watch.

Just a thought ..... And I think I'm unbiased since I don't even know who you refer to as the 6 PAC. In my humble opinion, your post seems designed to bait others into making negative comments. :ohdear:

Morning, You can't get more negative than the 6 PAC and no, they only have one woman and it is not you. They sit at home in front of their computers and pray for anything liberal to attack. I am simply tired of trying to make peace with my own party so bad that I have decided to leave. I do not want to be identified with the Tea Party nor even my own Republican party on this board anymore. They are hateful, and their only defense is that liberals start it. That is such a childish mentality it is sad. So, I will stay conservative, but will forever represent myself as a conservative Democrat. You mark my words, when my drinking friend wakes up he will be on me like stink on a monkey. And when his side kick wakes up, he also will be back to negative posting. They will do this because I am not 100 % extremist Right Wing. Jesus Christ was a liberal as verified by his sermon on the mount, so I feel confident that I am on the right side. If being kind and giving is a sin, then I have sinned. I challenge Mr negative and his body guard to simply say goodbye to me without their negativity and I will apologize to them both for being wrong, but even saying that, they are such obsessive compulsive haters, that they will not be able to control themselves.

:bigbow: You have just described the dilemma this country faces today. I am an Independent a/k/a moderate conservative and find the level of contempt for opposing opinions expressed on this site is nothing short of repulsive.

Thank you. I need to surround myself with that attitude and understanding. I am embarrassed to admit that I voted for Bush and McCain because of who else support them. If leaving my party is what I must do to be around people who respect people for what they are and believe in, then leave I will. I am appalled at just how good the 6 PAC are at being hateful and negative. Without them, this site could truly be a place to work toward bipartisanship solutions, but as they are here, only arguments and sarcasm. I kept getting drawn into it myself, so I know how additive it can be. Again, thanks for letting me know that there are other conservative thinking independents out there.

I simply like to use an interesting measuring stick. I voted for Reagan as many times as I was legally allowed. Yet today's GOP hardliner would look at a nameless candidate with Reagan's record as if the former president was a socialist and (here's the rub) all the while practically praising Reagan's name like a saint.

Reagan was the very model of compromise and dealmaking. Something today's GOP, especially the Tea Party Caucus, doesn't practice at all.

I would like to follow you around for a day to get some of your mojo. I have watched you post for several years and to this day, I can not define you as a DEM or REP or even anything in between. My first instinct is to say WHATS UP WITH THAT?, but realize, If we all could get on your wave length, we would have most of the problems of the world solved or at the very least a lot closer than we are today. My main weakness is that I can not for the life of me understand why anyone would choose to be Hard Right or Hard Left; therefore, I find myself acting out in a childish manner right along side of the 6 PAC by trying to defend the underdog. I do understand that I need to stop responding to any extremest as it is not productive and leads to childishness and I hope I am better than than that. I know, I have not been up till now. Guilty.

As I said, I am not a DEM but Independent. However, I have attended Democratic Club meetings here in TV (yes they exists) and find they do have a fairly high sense of courtesy and respect for most all points of view. You certainly should go take a look, they won't bite.

This is getting truer every day. The level of snarkiness is ridiculous. I have visions of these folks salivating when there is something they can attack. Must make them feel good in some way. Fortunately, I have long ago learned that trying to get through to people with such a level of certitude is nearly impossible. PROVE ME WRONG>>SITE YOUR SOURCE>>>GIVE ME LINKS (that's what they say) SO my expectations are very very low. Don't let them get to you ( a generic you)..that is what empowers them. Your REACTION to what they say is what is making you upset..and you have the power to stop that. I have requested links a few times and never got one. Take care...

Yes. Both me and my wife like to ride early in the day. We only go 10 to 15 miles for a little exercise and to stay somewhat fit.

Your right and thank you. When I would try to be the peacemaker, before I knew it they had me caught up in the hate, so as I have said, I am not wired to be a jerk and it causes me too much stress, so I am going to try hard to stay on track with those of a more civil attitude.

The Mr and I just spent our 2 week vacation riding the "rails to trails" around Xenia, Ohio. It is awesome-over 200 miles of beautiful, rarely interrupted bike paths thru small towns in Ohio. We stopped often for ice cream or snack of some kind. Had one scoop of ice cream at Young's Dairy-it was more like a pint! We too go about 15 miles several times a week...it's like a mini-vacation after a long day at work! Thanks for answering, I always get excited to meet fellow bikers! :a040: Happy Trails!
