NJ Gov. Chris Christie reconsidering Presidential candidacy
 

It seems the governor of N.J., Governor Chris (I won't run, I'm not ready, stop asking me) Christie is reconsidering entering the Republican Primary for President, after repeated appeals from several leading Republican donors and fundraisers.

Evidently he thinking about it after meetings in the past week with several notable Republican billionaires.

According to a source of Newsmax familiar with the meeting, it was suggested that Gov. Christie seemed inclined to enter the race but that he needed more time.

Gov. Christie has promised to make a decision "within two weeks," the source said.

So, this race may get even more interesting.

Would he run as a Republican or as an independent?

Seems to me he might be better off letting that gang of 11 beat themselves up with some of the goofy stuff they're saying, and just go his own way as an independent. The big question is whether he'd be able to get on the state ballots as an independent.

While he wouldn't get money from the GOP national committee, my guess is that that money would flood in. I know I'd make a contribution. Then he wouldn't be beholden to the various powerful factions in the GOP. That would be a very good thing, I think.

Then again, I'm no political consultant.

Any Republican would be a fool, IMHO, to run as a third party candidate and Gov. Christie is no fool.

He is fat.

That will eliminate him from consideration by all those "tolerant" folks that can't stand his straight talk on the effectiveness of being solvent instead of insolvent.

I don't think you're correct. The extremists will make fun of his weight, that's a given. What else are they going to say. They can't debate him on fiscal policy issues and not come out looking like ignoramuses. He has a way with words on that subject.

He's a fiscal conservative, a social moderate, coupled with a few liberal ideas besides. He can definitely grab Obama votes, and if he does wind up the Republican candidate, what else can we Republicans do but vote for him. We can worry about his "less than conservative" qualities later; maybe after he "cuts the government fat", so to speak.

I'm not endorsing, but merely speculating.

Yeah, they will. But the extremists will be historically wrong.

John Adams was no slouch as a POTUS, and he was kinda tubby, often pictured with a double chin and a protruding gut.

William Howard Taft was such a lardass that he regularly got stuck in one of the White House bathtubs and had to be helped out.

Then there was Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy was pretty fit and tough, but a lightweight he was not.

So Christie would be in good company as far as his avoirdupois is concerned.

As far as your endorsement is concerned, Richie, c'mon get on the bandwagon with me. I'll endorse Christie in a nanosecond. He's light years better and more electable than all but one of the current GOP candidates.

How long do the think it would take Christie to stick a flamethrower in an appropriate place in some of the word-parsing, negative, obstructionist, unproductive members of Congress?

app article doesn't sound like much more than the gov being his bully self with the unions [not state unions] - but the links froom the post in the comments section off the article make me wonder why the gov is going to spend $5 - $11 million of state revenue to save a hospital that is being sold. some of the players seem a bit cozy, too.

That is quite the conclusion you have jumped to. Tolerant people will eliminate him from consideration because he is fat? That is some line of reasoning there....

If people like my sister in law voted for Obama because he "talks good" I can see people not voting for Christie because he is fat.

Funny, I always thought she was a sensible conservative. Her husband could not believe that she voted for Obama. It has been awhile since I have talked to her. Do not know how she feels about her vote now. Maybe the spell is gone and she regrets voting for the worst President in history.
