St. Augustine
 

Heading over to St. Augustine over next weekend. Checked the map and it suggest Route 40 from the Villages as the best route. How do I get to Route 40 from 466A?

How long will it take to drive over to St. Augustine?

West on 466A to 301
North on 301 to 42
East on 42 to 19
North on 19 to 40
East on 40 to 11
North on 11 into 1
North on 1 to St Aug

We commute all the time. Take 301 to 20. Take 20 East to 17. Take 17 South to 207 which will take you into St. Augustine. We have found this the fastest, easiest route so far and it is more inhabited if you are travelling at night.

I found a shortcut which I have inserted in your directions, chuckinca. It takes about 4 miles off the trip. BTW, I have family in St. Augustine and have been making the trip for years. I have tried many variations and I prefer your routing but that little cut-off makes it even better.

301 to Belleview
35 to 40 (Ocala)
40 to 314 (Ocala National Forest)
314 to 19 (Ocala National Forest)
19 to 20 to 207 (Palatka area)
207 to St Augustine

Been there, done that!

It is shorter but I thought, for a first timer, it would be better to keep him on the main roads.
