millipedes

I know that they are not harmful, but they are an annoyance. They are marching all over our lanai. We had Deans come out to spray the lanai and spread granules around the whole perimeter of the house. Since then, it has rained every afternoon, so I don't know if the protection has washed away. We are still picking up dozens a day on the lanai floor and walls. We recently had fresh pine bark chips spread in the shrub beds. But, if that was a significant factor, then I'd expect to see millipedes elsewhere around the house.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there some better treatment?

Thanks

Bad year for millipedes

We just had Massey here this morning. The tech said it is a bad year for millipedes.

We are going through the same thing...had Dean's come out...and they are still crawling all over our driveway and just starting to come in the lanai. We have stone in our shrub beds so I guess that doesn't make a difference. I just want them GONE!

PS I would rather have the millipedes instead of the love bugs...I think that season is almost over!

The Masey tech also said they don't really have anything that will kill them. They are not bad in that they don't sting, change or grow into something that ruins your landscaping.
They need water and follow the shade. Sorry this doesn't help much.

I had my guy out 5 different times to spray and on the last visit he can me an information sheet that clearly states that unlees you hit them straight on or step on them they will just keep coming. I am finding them all around my house, in my garage on my lanai. found two marching in my house.
We need dry weather or cold weather to rid ourselves of them

OK, it's not just us, and the Deans guy is on the level. He even came back today for a follow-up treatment, and made sure to get under the mulch bark.

So, if anyone invents an ultrasonic millipede repeller, they can advertise in the airline SkyMall brochure.

wow, that is so weird! We are renting a house in Liberty Park and I haven't seen a single one! And I know they don't have a pest control contract here.

We had a few milipedes on our pool deck inside the screen but never near the house when we lived in Orlando.

It's true that millipedes follow shade and moisture and there is little you can spray to deter them- it's also true that this is probably a 3 to 5 year cycle and with each year the millipedes will be bigger.
