Now are you with me

I said for weeks that Rick Perry was weird and scary. So many on here said I was not right. Well, now most of my grand ole party is agreeing with me. The man is dangerous to the United States and its people. Wake up and smell his stench. All that supported him was giving votes to Obama. Apologies excepted.

Don't Forget The Real Test

I think it was best said by a big backer and contributor to Chris Christie. When questioned on Christie's less-than-conservative positions on some issues, he said...

"I tell other Republicans, you have to pick somebody who is going to make you 70% happy, and is capable of making 51% of the country happy."

Perry misses the mark on the 51% test by a long shot.

He's not real popular with hard line conservatives who feel he's weak on immigration issues and doesn't want to build the "fence". Also he's approved in state tuition costs for illegal students who reside in Texas.

Some conservatives, like Bachmann and others, accuse him of being lax on personal freedom with his approval of the vaccination of young girls with a controversial vaccine with only an "opt out"; instead of a more defensible "opt in".

The one thing I can point to to make him defend himself, in the eyes of his opponents, is his controversial (but non the less true) characterizations of the present Social Security System.

He's been terribly unprepared to perform in the debate setting and that's hasn't helped him, obviously. He's hurt himself in that venue, for sure.

I just wish someone could explain the hatred I hear against this man. I haven't yet heard an articulate explanation of what's to hate about this man.

Not Hatred

I really don't think there's a lot of "hatred" for Perry.

What there is, I think, is people coming to the realization that he is not competent to serve as POTUS, arguably the most powerful political position in the world. His statements on several issues have been too scatalogical, and his overly-casual preparation to argue for his nomination speaks either to shortcomings in his intelligence or his commitment.

Criticisims such as these are not "hatred".

(I know I used a term not commonly used. "Scatalogical" is a combination of scat and logical. It is used to describe a way of thinking that is neither sensible or logical.)

I think you are being a little harsh. But I have come to expect that.

The Villager II's comment are on line with the definition of the word "hate". Evident in this thread, and in another where he he calls him a "scum bag". I know people can have differing opinions about his candidacy because of his record as governor of Texas, or his religious faith, or his perceived platform, but the strong antipathy I've seen from some, as in The Villager II's comments, have me wondering what's I'm missing, if anything.

As for your comments, when has Rick Perry discussed feces?; because that's the only descriptive way to use that word.

You miss the point. I don't hate the man, I feel sorry for him. I do use the wrong choice of works when referring to him due to my overactive passion for America and its citizens. I will clean it up and apologize for any offense anyone has taken. Let me try a different approach:

I find it unsettling the way the Honorable Gov Perry address's his constituency with such selfish contempt for anyone with an opinion that differs from his own. His is in a position to provide leadership to the population of Texas yet he reveals the attitude that verifies his position is for personal gratification only. That is fine for retired old men and women like those of us on this board, but I find it appalling for someone in political office that is sworn to defend and protect all peoples and not your own greedy interest. Please allow me my opinion about this man as I do not have the ability to explain it any better. I respect your opinion and will not try to change it so please let me have one also.
