Who controlled Congress when?
 

We have frequently heard from the loyal opposition, how Clinton left a surplus and how Bush got us into the economic disaster we're in. Of course the matter is complex.....but......I have always wondered why the Presidents get the rap or the accolades as it is Congress who spends the money, raises the taxes and pays the bills with taxpayer dollars. With just a little research, I confirmed that both houses of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, were controlled by Republicans in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. That would be most of Clinton's tenure. While you have heard the Dems hail the financial health of the country during this wonderful period under Clinton, did you ever hear the Republican Congress get credit? The question is rhetorical and the answer self evident.

Dems on the other hand are quick to pin the blame for the current economy on George Bush. My quick research shows in fact it was the Dems who controlled both houses of Congress in 2007, 2008, and 2009 or at least half of Bush's second term. Obama enjoyed a Democratic Congress, both houses, from 2009 until the mid-term elections when the Republicans took the House.

Democrats controlled both houses of Congress in 2007, 2008, and 2009 when they also had the Presidency. Wow.........and they call it the Bush recession.

Haaaa, cabo35, really now, its always the President's fault, who in there right mind would ever blame their congress person who by authority of the constitution is suppost to pass a budget, submitted by the President or change it to what they want and submit it to the President. I don't know about you, but I think that my congress person walks on water.:a040::a040::a040::a040:

Figmo, glad you got your orders. I don't now any who walk on water. Most pass the water bucket in hard times. Others mostly just pass water when tough decisions need to be made.
