10 favorite movies or stars of yesteryears?
 

On the post for favorite TVs of TV, there were postings on TCM. Unfortunately, some of the movies I like are never shown. I know Casablanca and Gone with the Wind are great but..... One of the first movies I saw was 'Sea Hawk' starring Errol Flynn. I liked many of his movies. With ladies I liked movies starring Gail Russel, sorry not Jane Russel like "A Woman with a Thousand Eyes" or any starring Patricia Neal who passed away recently. Elizabeth Taylor was so, so beautiful in "Father of the Bride". In Western, I enjoyed many Joel Macrea movies like "The Virginian", Jack Ladd in "Shane", many B movies of Randolph Scott. I guess I'll have to add "The Yearling" to pay respect to the author who lived near us.

My favorite old movies are mostly the old RKO and Universal monster movies of the 1930s. I love them...the original 1933 King Kong was the first movie I ever saw in a theater..my grandma took me. It was being shown in a revival theater. Also love Karloff in Frankenstein and The Mummy, The Wolfman, etc. Also love the old Busby Berkley musicals...

Have seen close to 100% of the movies listed. Many are indeed classics and great movies. I haven't seen any movies that really caught my eyes in recent.

Really? Sometimes TCM will have themes like a particular era. One night they did all 1930's movies. Sometimes they will have movies that have the same actor, like a Cary Grant day.

There are easily 50 - 75 movies that, when they're on TV, I'll pretty much drop everything to watch them again. These are my favorites by decade starting with the 1920's. I still don't have a favorite for this decade but it's early yet.

Hey, I loved Blazing Saddles. First time I saw it I thought I was literally going to die laughing because I couldn't catch my breath I was laughing so hard. My stomach was killing me.

My top five I think are: It's a Wonderful Life, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, To Kill a Mockingbird and Citizen Kane. The first five b/w Number 6 mentioned were all great. Didn't see the next five.

A movie I loved that hasn't been mentioned is Paper Moon with Tatum O'neill. Oh yeah, and her father, whathisname. Ryan, that was it.

Movies memorable for "nailing" the decade about which they were written: The Great Gatsby, Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate and The Big Chill.

A movie that has stuck with me because I identified with character Harry Beale's anger at the death of real journalism was Network.

Um, no. I almost didn't include it cause it wasn't a TCM type movie, but it is one of my all-time favorite movies. Another great comedy is The Ritz. I LOVE Rita Moreno in this. The list would be a lot different if I truly listed my top 10. Not much into chick flicks. Rather watch Terminator ten times than Casablanca once.
