Alaska cruise/flight info
Anyone have any cruise or flight info to share as I am looking to fly to Anchorage or Fairbanks, cruise, and fly back from Vancover?
|
We highly recomend flying to Fairbanks and leaving from Vancover. When we went it was August. The flowers were in full bloom, you won't believe how large they are, cabbages over 100lbs beautifull. All of the the animals are in good condition for mateing season amd winter. The caribou and moose have there antlers. Going north to south you wil be able to relax a little more on the cruse portion of it. If you want more info about tours that we liked etc just PM me. If you enjoy scenery and nature, you should go. Remember to bring a jacket or sweater and rain gear. The coast of Alaska is a rain forest. We didn't have any rain for our 3 weeks. Enjoy!

Any special reason to fly into Fairbanks vs Anchorage?

Holland America and Princess both offer cruises and land tours. Huge variety of itineraries.
My suggestions: If you've got the time, do a land tour first (about a week, altho' many lengths are offered), then finish with the cruise. Some land options are "energetic," and the cruise will allow you to relax from your touring! AAA had a big program the other day, and followed up with some deals. They'd be an excellent choice here in TV. Look into Alaska Airways. They offer non-stop Orlando-Seattle service, which gets the largest portion of the flight taken care of. I could go on and on, but will spare everyone! :clap2: SWR :beer3: |

The train trip was one of the highlights of the trip. It goes pretty much straight up the coast and the scenery was wonderful. Being on the train going through customs was a breeze. Suzanne |
We flew to Fairbanks via Anchorage on Northwest (now Delta) from Orlando. Started with the land portion of a Princess Cruise. Spent 3 days in Fairbanks, alaska rail (fantastic) to Anchorage with overnights along the way at Denali and talkeetna, then a night in Anchorage before the train to board ship to Vancouver. Loved the cruise and as others have said, relaxation after the scenic land portion with all it's side trips. Flew from Vancouver to Orlando on Northwest (Delta).
Great trip well organized. .......pm me if need more details |

Add Royal Caribbean and Celebrity to the list of lines that offer the land and cruise package. They have nice trains with glassed in cars to see everything. |

We went on Princess. Very well organized! All of the cruise lines are on the same Dome train just seperate cars. I agree that you should do the land portion first then the cruise.

I would fly in the day before your tour starts. If you have the time it might be cheaper to take the 14 day Holland American cruise out of Seattle. The reason is I think flying to/from your airports could be more expensive that Seattle. |
