Hiding the green monsters

my neighbor has used pampas grass. She intends to add one more to complete the illusion. From my house, I can only plant annuals as there is less than the required 3', so my "screen" is a young moonvine, zinnias and a small trellis.

Thanks for the photos.. Grass is okay cause you can cut it back, but dont like the way it looks when it kind of dies at the base, and Im afraid it would be a perfect spot for snakes to hide,,,but thanks

My side of the grass

Agree about the grass and possibility of snakes, but my side of the box is disguised with Mexican Petunias, Zinnias, and a trellis with moonvine -no snakes there :)

Ohhhhh.... So THAT'S a "water plant". :)

I had 2 pamapas grass plants in my garden in London. Ok for first 2 years, then they grew & grew!! I was told be an avid gardener that I should burn them back. BIG mistake.....burned down my hedge as well  Oh well. hedge grew back, and so did the pampas.
In the end we (husband) cut back to the ground, then dug them up. The grass part is really sharp, you have to wear long tough sleaves to work near the stuff!!

Where did you buy the Mexican petunias? I would like to plant some.

Also, don't forget the clearance at the front of the box is 10 feet, 3 on the sides and back.

Mexican petunias

I was thrilled to be given FREE Mexican Petunias. Sorry, don't know where to buy them, but I imagine someone has contacted you by now. Sandra

I've read that you cant put anything closer than 10 feet from the front of the box but what if the box is closer than 10 to your house.
