Need honest, cost-effective electrician!

Tried to wash a load of clothes tonight & my (almost) new washer wouldn't start. Nada. My neighbor concluded (with tool) that the outlet wasn't working & loaned me a heavy duty extension cord so I could connect the washer to an outlet in the garage. So, now I need an electrician & I need one who won't try to gouge me for money I don't have. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!:bigbow:

Did you check the circuit breaker that controls that outlet? Also, look for ground fault outlets in the home (each will have a red button in the middle of it). If the button is popped out it means that the current has been stopped. Push the button back in. There may be several ground fault outlets in your home. Check them all.

Are you there less than a year? If so, call the warranty department.

I agree with Skyguy. Alan Byer is the one to call.

Is the outlet GFI protected?

I had the samer issue. The washer stopped in mid cycle. The outlet the washer is plugged into is GFI protected. It just needed to be reset by pushing in the reset button in the middle. I hope that's all it is. It could save you the cost of a service call.

I am adding another recommendation for Alan Byer for electrical work. My neighbor needed a garage GFI receptacle changed so I gave her Alan's name based on what I read here. She said Alan came that very afternoon, did great work and like others the only evidence he was there is the receptacle works now. And the cost was VERY reasonable which is also good.
