Pool heater....gas or heat pump?

We have a 6 year old Haywood gas pool heater that has 3 of the 4 burners rusted out to the point the unit will not ignite.
Our choices are:
... replace the rusted burners (estimated to be about half the cost of a new heater)
... replace the entire heater (estimated to be around $2700)
... check out practicality of heat pump
... do nothing and go to seasonal use of pool (we do have a solar heating system, but it cannot keep the pool above 80 when the temps start to drop into the 50's during our FL winter).

Any advice/experience/comments appreciated.

I would just do 4 new burners. They are not that hard to install yourself and you can find them online. Not much different then rebuilding a gas grill. Let me know what you decide and how you make out as I have the same task sometime in the next year or so.

Here is a link for the parts.

Ck online a company Intheswim.com you may find a replacement or repair parts pretty cheap. I paid 2100 for a 65000 btu Hayward heat pump. 10 year warranty . The only problem is you need a 220 line to run it. You may find a new gas heater for around 1200 depending on your btu need.
