Comcast 4 days from request to working connections

I had Comcast internet installed yesterday. Went into Comcast on Monday and asked for internet and TV but no phone.
I was told that the install would be Wednesday between 1 and 4.
I got a call from the installers office at 1:15 telling me that the install would now be between 4 and 6. At 6:15 I called Comcast and asked where was the installer. The operator told me that they were still working.
At 9:00 pm the doorbell rang and the installer asked if I wanted the install done.
By 9:30 high speed internet was up and running.
The installer was great.
TV took another visit to the Comcast store since the installer didn't have CableCards.
I self installed the CableCard and I now have TV and internet.
Four days from request to working equipment in my home.

What are cable cards?

CableCards are a 1/4 inch thick credit card sized module that will take the place of a cable box in many TV sets and newer TIVO boxes.
The downside is that you can't use them for on demand or any PPV purchases.

I installed a Comcast CableCard in my Sharp HDTV and got bad freezes on many stations. 3 weeks and 6 field techs later, their senior CC troubleshooter showed up to do a swap and still no go. The CableCard just would not work right in my set. Frustrated CC tech just gave up and I ended up with a free HD STB and a month of free service because they missed 3 appointments and couldn't solve the problem.

What brand/model TV do you have? I hear CableCards are hit and miss because the industry can't agree on standards and the cable companies don't know how to program them correctly or don't send the correct "activation hits" from the head end.
