You could try the DIY approach. Go to this link on the web:http://www.ehow.com/how_5459545_refinish-wicker.html

Even if you don't want to do it yourself, reading about the process may give you a new appreciation of what is involved and allow you to better judge whether or not you are being quoted a fair price.

Years ago I had some pieces that were in dire need to be refinished and tried to do the DYI thing with them....as i'd re-finished other non-wicker pieces of furniture and thought it wouldn't be a huge deal. Well it was and I soon gave up. It's extremely difficult and the mess to me wasn't worth it. Think I ended up either junking them or sending them on to a GoodWill type place.

thanks for the reply. I thought of DIY, then read about the procedure, and don't know if I have the energy for it. I'll see what this guy quotes me. thanks for the input.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool DIYer. Really somebody needs to stop me! Anyway, I did repaint a settee and two chairs about 7 yrs ago. It was labor intensive but I only spent the price of a quart of paint and they looked great!

If your estimates are too high pm me and I'll be more detailed.

Good Luck.

Did you use his services? He's coming to estimate some refinishing work at our home today?
