Christmas

So one more thorn from Obama. There will be a 15 cent per fresh cut tree this year for Christmas trees. To help improve the image and marketing of trees come on man what kind of BS is this now. This just the poorest excuse of a president I have ever seen. Yes Jimmy Carter couldnt hold a candle to Jack A. If he is reelected the in this country have got to be the dumbest people of the world. He truly needs to be removed now. What part of moron does he not understand

It IS one of the lamest excuses for a tax, even if it's only 15 cents, that I ever heard of. Was there a big clamor for natural Christmas Tree image boosting? Did they even have a bad image? It's hysterical, AND lame.

Hey!!; after writing the above post I hear there actually was a clamor from the National Christmas Tree Assoc. for this tax to be used to boost the industry. I still don't get it, though.

But, after an online outcry the tax has been put on hold.

As near as I can tell, it was an advocacy group (NCTA) wanting to get taxes to promote their trees - presumably versus artificial ones.

DDoug...don't bet on it there are a great number of voters still drinking the kool-aid. Remember there were several hundred people followed Jim Jones right into hell.

According to this, it's not a tax. So who pulled the trigger here? Please read.

Guest 11-09-2011 07:11 PM

yes terminology is everything like politicians using the words fee or assessment so they can in good conscience say they have not added any TAXES....
and although it is ONLY 15 cents remember pennies make dollars!!!!!!!!

Apparently there ARE some kinds of publicity that aren't good:

http://www.registerguard.com/web/bus...ogram.html.csp

In a word, the USDA is putting the tax 'on hold' now that people got outraged about it.

Guest 11-10-2011 09:52 AM

it is no longer....the flip flop maneuver has been employed!
