Succession... rules or myths
 

Good morning,
We keep hearing that if we die, the Government gets our home there, or 50% or 30%....
We are wondering if adding our son on title when we buy in TV means he will automatically become the owner (tax free) if we pass. We are Canadian, in case that makes a difference.

I do not practice in Canada and am not familiar with the Canadian tax code. Adding your son to the title of a home could create many unintended legal consequences. I would suggest that you consult with an attorney in both Canada and Florida and have the two attorneys speak with each other regarding the best way to title the home before you purchase your home in The Villages.
