Cat to be put down

Buffalo Ridge Animal hosital has a posting to find a home for a 6 1/2 yr old short haired domestic cat, front declawed, spayed with current shots. She's described as a loving lap cat.

The owner is moving and can't take the cat. No Kill shelters are full. She's exhausted every avenue trying to find a home for the cat.

If she can't by the end of this month, the cat will be put down. If you know anyone that would like to adopt this baby, please let me know. Or call Buffalo Ridge directly.

It just breaks my heart that a beautiful loving cat will be put down because nobody wants her.

Hopefully someone can open up their home and hearts for this animal. For people who have never had a a cat, they are so low maintenance and return so much love and companionship to their families. They really only require a shelter , food & water , a litter box, and of course a warm lap to sit on. GOOD LUCK KITTY!

Thanks for posting this Nanci. Unfortunately I'm maxed out with pets. It breaks my heart when loving animals are destroyed.

I am too Bare; I have four cats and I can't introduced another. When I lived up north, I had the room but living here, as you know, we're limited on space. I've had this cat on my mind for two days now. I spoke to the people at the desk today, at Buffalo Ridge and unfortunately, this will be the cat's (her name is Sparkles) faith at the end of November so if you know of anyone or can send emails out to your neighborhoods, I'm sure Sparkles will be grateful.

If enough people read this thread and takes a moment to send out an email to their neighborhood friends, just maybe someone will open up their home to this precious kitty.

Have you checked with ABCD (All About Cats and Dogs)? They're located on CR484 between CR466 and CR475A. We found some feral kittens a couple of years ago and took them in and they found homes for them. I have cats, too, and can't handle any more. Is foster care an option until a home can be found?

I believe, according the vet's assistant they did call no kill shelters and all were full.

Kittens are so easy to place; everyone wants a little kitty. It's the older cat that have difficulty finding a forever home. I'm trying every day but I will call ABCD myself to find out if they have room

Adult mature kitties are so great for older families. They're layed back, calm, and don't require much attention. PERFECT fur kid for a senior Village resident.

A six year-old cat is still young. My Himalyan cat just had her 19th birthday and she is doing great.

Our "girls" are 14 and still behave like kittens and are still in great shape.

I would think that a declawed cat would be a bonus! No shredded furniture, etc. I hope she finds a home. You're right about her age, which is still very young in cat years. My one cat lived to be 22 years old!
