Saw J. Edgar yesterday. For those of you who are American history buffs or those interested in law enforcement , it's worth going to see. Very interesting portrayal of J. Edgar Hoover by Leonardo DiCaprio. Although trying to cover 50+ years in just over 2 hours there were a lot of stories about J. Edgar Hoover left untold. First rate cast. One criticism that I have heard professional critics make that I agree with -- one of the lead characters in the movie (I won't say which one) had a bad makeup job as this character ages about 50 years during the movie.

I could not believe how great the make up was for the main character (J. Edgar) and how bad it was for the other central figure.
Acting was amazing!

Loved the film. Amazing acting. Leo knows his craft.

Thought it was an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. Best flick of the fall-winter season.

Would rate JEdgar at about a 5 of 10. Acting often strained and over the top. Several scenes carried to extremes (the efforts of JE to make love to Tolson) as well as being far too long. Makeup very bad and unrealistic. Not well directed.

In general the show did give a reasonable account of a period in our history that is not well understood by most people. IMHO
