VIN Verification

Going to be registering my out of state car in Jan. I see on the website that a VIN verification is required. I know what the VIN is, but what and how do I get a verification?

I believe it means that you have to drive the car to the registration location so that they can visually verify the VIN number on the car.

The Tax Collector place in the Spruce Creek Terrace Shoppes plaza on 27/441 has special parking spots for VIN Verification.

They take whatever information you have with the VIN number on it and match it against the VIN plate on your dash.

It is probably on your car title and and car registration from your home state.

It is on the title and registration, however that does not consitiute verification. The vin indicated for verification is on the drivers side of the dash board near the windshield. It's also located in another location on the vehicle, but that's not used for verification. It's hidden and frequently used by auto theft investigators. When I was working I would occasionally go outside our issuing office to make a verification for a customer... until I got ordered to stop by management stating it was not part of our duties!

You can also download a form from the Florida motor vehicle site and take it to the sheriff's department. One of the officers will verify the vin for you so you do not have to have the car at the license branch. Handy if you are trying to title two cars at the same time.

As stated by Indydealmaker above. You can download the form and take it to any of your local law enforcement offices and have the officer view your vin#, and sign the form that it is correct. I have signed several of these in my area of Maryland. Good Luck.
