I am convinced that some people living here should not be able to drive any sort of vehicle(period)

I played golf very earlier this morning and while waiting for the go ahead by the starter noticed two woman running on Canal facing traffic. A guy in a golf cart apparently didn't believe they should be running in the road and came very close to running down the runners. The exchange was in a foreign language I didn't understand but went something like #$%%^&&***(()( and you @#@$$%^%^^&.

On my way home I can't tell you the number of golf cart drivers who have no understanding that they need to slow or stop when necessary as they approach pedestrians. The law is clear the driver have the obstruction must stop to allow clearance for oncoming traffic. They don't so when I see a pedestrian on the opposite side of the cart path I slow or stop because I know the oncoming cart is going to pull in the middle of the path

After playing golf I went home to change and was off to MVP traveling on Belvedere approaching the Buena Vista gate when I looked right and saw a little yellow car attempting to drive on the golf path. He was only stopped because a golf cart driver slammed on his breaks and began drastically waving his arms. I stopped and motion the driver to back out while I waited.

As I approached the entrance to MVP a vehicle perhaps left someone out and was driving away when he just missed a woman leaving MVP. Again another exchange in a foreign language I didn't understand.

On my way home I was stopped in the left turning lane on 466 west with a green light waiting to see for oncoming cars to clear. The view was clear except for a car in the opposing left tuning lane (466 west) with a signal that he was going left. As I pulled to turn this vehicle pulled hard right and continued straight on 466 just missing me.

You are so right and the jolly shoppers who were trying to mail their Christmas stuff today at two different post offices were honking and honking and honking to get the cars to move who were stuck motionless in the line to find a parking place.

I almost got out of my car and used my squirtgun.

and I told my wife she could drive around TV in a golf cart.

I can do you one better Rubicon! We were coming home from a very nice lunch at Cane Garden today when we had to stop after going through the tunnel under Buena Vista as a big white mini van was turning around (on the golf cart trail). The driver zoomed right by us (on the golf cart trail) heading to Odell where she took a left and disappeared. I thought maybe you were the guy in the oncoming golf cart that stopped and made wild gestures with his arms as she passed him! I had heard that this occasionally happened but it was the first time I had actually seen it!:ohdear:

Gracie, where did you get that water pistol? I get so tired of being "honked at", especially when I am in a jam and can't move. I wonder if these "honkers" actually think I can sprout wings and fly! Where I come from you use your horn for a warning (or perhaps an occasional "toot" when you see a friend) but not just to show impatience. IMHO it is rude and crude and just downright bad manners! For Heavens sake, we're retired! What's your hurry?

I too have held my breath more than once watching some close calls. There are many rude (and wacky) folks who have an extreme sense of entitlement here in TV. A couple of wks ago I saw a case of "road rage" in the Walmart parking lot that was just plain scary.

An older couple were pushing their shopping cart down the middle of the lane (yes, it would have been more polite to move to the side) An elderly man driving his car got frustrated with this and zoomed by, just missing them and giving them a one finger salute as he passed by (yes, he should have waited an extra 30 seconds until they got out of his way and the "salute" was uncalled for). The man who was walking with his wife, went ballastic, chased after the car and began yelling at the driver to never flip off his wife. The elderly driver stopped his car, returned the yelling with a threat that he was going to get his gun. Talk about over reacting on everyone's part. Thank goodness the driver just gunned it and drove off.

Yup, and yesterday on 466, at a stoplight near the High School, I stopped at a red light, and a few seconds later a little red car goes zooming through the red light in the middle lane. I was so glad I wasn't in the middle lane,or my van would have been his stop light.

I ask that question every day of the week. Geez...just leave sooner. I noticed today one of the new signs up on Buena Vista about the new speed limits that are coming.


On another note, how about those walkers that walk early and/or late and wear dark, dark clothes with no reflectors or lights of any kind? Ever notice, too, in heavy fog the only cars without headlights on are the dark colored ones?

Yesterday just before dusk (on a day that was cloudy and dark all day) a guy was riding a bicycle on Parr Drive behind Walgreens (no separate cart lane there). He was occupying the middle of the car lane, and was wearing a dark charcoal grey or black shirt. I could barely see him ahead of me because of the black shirt....saw him as I got fairly close.

PLEASE wear something bright colored, white or reflective when you're bicycling in the car lanes!

There is a big beautiful full moon out there tonight...loony driving!!!!

What a day! This is the first day I've ever thought, "glad I wasn't there today". Geez.:22yikes:
