Generic Lipitor

As of December 1st Lipitor is available in a generic form. Has anyone found it stocked in a local pharmacy?

Lipitor

yes but I'm not in TV
Lipitor has a $4 monthly co pay card (good for 2 years thru 2012 ) which I've been paying since the beginning of the year.

My wife went to get my 30 day supply today and was told I had to pay $10 according to my medical plan (I'm not on medicare)

The generic for Lipitor was quoted $15...

Be careful with Lipitor (or it's generic) --I know several people, including myself, who developed muscle cramping. If you don't stop taking it as soon as you get the cramping the cramping becomes more severe, is irreversible, and causes progressive muscle deterioration. If you haven't had any cramping then you are probably ok taking it, but read the side effects.

Walmart carries it.

Lipitor

HelenLCSW, Thanks for warning others of the possible side effects. I have to agree with you as I also had the bad side effects. I am sure in some cases it is good for some people with no side effects. But for me I will not take Lipitor again.

You can have side affects with any medicine. That wasn't my question.

My Doc took me off of Lipitor and put me on Simvastatin. No more cramping and many trips to the bathroom.

Simvastatin was a much cheaper alternative to Lipitor and I had very good results with it for two years but I was abruptly taken off Simvastatin in June due to a letter from the FDA stating it should not be taken with another medicine I am taking so I was put back on Lipitor.

I guess I do not understand the pricing though. A friend of mine got a card from her drug program that her Lipitor co-pay would now be $4.00. I called my mail-order drug company and they told me that Lipitor on my Part D plan would still be over $100 per 90 day prescription. When I asked about the $4 quote I was told that different plans required different co-pays.

Lipitor

I've been on Lipitor (10 mg) since 1999. No muscle cramping. It works very well.
I do of course get the liver function checked every 6 months...

Hope OP finds the generic but would again look into the reduced copay card...

I had issues with high tryglycerides and two fish pills a day of 360 MG of omega -3 has reduced that as well. I might add my diet has improved the last few years to help. Diet and exercise is really the best method for better health....

the antihyperlipidemic drugs "statins" like lipitor, zocor etc can cause muscle pain & aches as an adverse effect. It's dose related, the higher the dose, the higher the chance of experiencing the muscle pain/aches. If you experience any adverse effects, just inform your doctor.
