I had a strange dream last night

I have lots of dreams every night but this one stands out because of how vivid and strange it was. In the past, such dreams usually have turned out to be true. In other words, some event that actually did happen.

I saw two men who I thought were possibly father and son. I could see their faces very clearly but did not recognize them. And they were not aware of my presence, so it was like I was viewing something that was meant to be private.

If they were father and son, they were very close in age. The father could have been 59 or 60 and the son could have been 43 or 44. As the dream began, the oldest one was in bed and the younger one got in bed beside him. No words were ever spoken between the two of them. They seemed a bit tense or solemn. As I watched, I wondered what was about to happen. I didn't have a clue.

Then I noticed some facial expressions like grimacing. Something unpleasant was happening to them. Then I realized they must have ingested poison to end their lives. Judging by their facial contortions, it may not have been as easy as they thought it would be. But it didn't take long before they were both dead and that was the end of the dream.

If you see this on the news tonight or read about it in the newspaper, remember, you heard it here first! :)

I've read that you cannot dream a face you haven't seen. In other word, your subconscious can't jsut make up a face. I don't know.
What a weird dream.

Sometimes when we are dreaming a lot or dreaming strangely, some of our medications might be at fault. Wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor.

That's just creepy and weird....Next time post a happy dream!

I think I understand what you mean when you say that some dreams are very different and seem more real than others. I would be "shook up" too if I had a dream like that, and wondering what it might mean.
Recalling your thread about the Christmas Parade at TV, the mischievous part of me wants to recommend that you might consider eating a little junk food now & then and you may have more "normal" dreams. (Speaking from experience).

Maybe a combination of the two posts.... no hot dogs at night and start taking your meds again. At least you didn't dream of smoke detectors or heart attacks.

VillagesPL, You seem to only post disturbing type things. I hope these aren't representative of your daily thoughts because if they are you may need some help in striving for a more positive outlook on life.

I was thinking, and I mean this in the kindest way, that you may be depressed, and there is no shame in that as many of us have gone through similar times. Please talk to your doctor Villages Pl.

I would like very much for you to have a Merry Christmas and only dreams of sugarplums.

There was a period (when I was working afternoons at MGM Casino) that I occasionally took Ambien to help me sleep. The side effect when I didn't take it after a few days of use was very, very disturbing dreams...that left me feeling weird all day. One thing I try to do when I have a dream is think about everything that occurred the previous days, I find that sometimes there is a connection to something I talked about, watched on tv or read about.

Food for thought on dreaming

I'll try to make this LONG story short:
I used to teach oil painting. One of my friends and fellow teachers at the studio was a brilliant fellow with numerous Ph.D.('s), who's passion was sculpture.

He asked to use the studio to conduct a class, to teach a group of Psychotherapists how to conduct dream therapy.
This intrigued me and I asked if they could use volunteers for the session. I was interested in using dreams in my art classes.
I asked my students if they would be interested and an overwhelming number were.

We, as a group, embarked on what would become a year long, fascinating journey into the dream state. It helps me to this day.

Setting the valid points of medication, clinical condition, or possible psychic phenomena aside, and without going on and on about technique:

Not everything you dream is literal.
Your 'dream vocabulary' is unique to you and over time your subconscious may redevelop what your 'symbols' represent.
You can control, design or re-direct your dreams.... prior to dreaming them OR while you are dreaming them.

It is my firm belief that dreams are a specific tool to help us navigate through our journeys. Much like 'gut instinct' is.

I am drug free. I don't take any medications of any kind, not even over-the-counter. The last time I had an aspirin was in 1970.

:)

I think I have you confused with another poster who has a similar name. There are a lot of Villages this and Golfer thats and I am easily mixed up.

Villages Pl...are you a girl or a guy because I was thinkin' you had a girl avatar but changed it.

Please continue drug free. I am sorry to have been confused.

But I still wish you a very Merry Christmas! And visions of Sugarplums...or maybe oranges and apples.

I'm mostly vegan. The exception is that I might have a can of sardines once a week, but never in the evening.

:)
