Kindle Fire help
 

My wife, Bonnie, got a Kindle Fire for X-MAS this year ( yes she opened it already) however she is having a few problems using the app's. Anyone out there that can teach her how to borrow books and things like that please let me know. Thank You. Michael

I just got a Kndle Fire as well...hubby just surprised me with it. You can contact the Kindle folks easy on Amazon....there is a link you click, put in your phone number and they will call you back in less then 30 seconds. They will walk you through any issues of questions you have. They are great folks and are there just to help is with these kinds of things. Go to your kindle account on the amazon site.

I have so many books on the Kindle I have not yet inestigated borrowing the books, but I was told that if you are looking for a particular book, just enter it in the search box and when the page comes us it will tell you is you can borrow it. There are well over 20,000 books she can get for free..mostly classics like HG Wells, Alcott, etc. Have her make that call...it will simplify things tremendously for her.

Just call them...they will help. Great company...and Peggy does not work there!

I am considering getting a Kindle Fire, I know nothing about E-readers. If I get a Fire, do you buy all the books, or can you get E books from the Library for free or at a rental rate?

The short answer is: you can get lots of free books for the kindle....over 20,000 of them, mostly classics. You can borrow books from SOME libraries...the sumter county library is going to (supposingly) become an elibrary some time next year. I don't know of a place to rent books, but you can borrow SOME books for up to two weeks. This all pertains to the kindle. Why don't you go to amazon.com and read all about the kindle fire? They have a very detailed listing about the product. I have a kindle 2 and a kindle fire. The fire is much more then an ereader. Go read about it and see all the wonderful things it can do!

tednrobin - i just bought a nook tablet from barnes and noble - it is their equivalent of the kindle fire. bought it over the kindle fire because of the reviews at cnet.com and because i can attend their nook classes at any b&N store; can also get live, in-person, hands-on help at their stores as well. the e-reader aspect of the nook and kindle are very similar, the apps for the nook are more limited than the kindle i believe - but they are growing weekly. and the nook allows you to add additional storage via a micro sd card which the kindle fire does not. i compared the viewing screen of both tablets and chose the nook over the kindle fire because of the intensity of its color screen and the depth of color saturation. screen illumination can be adjusted for reading in the dark to reding in the sun. technically the nook seemed to win out over the kindle fire and app wise the kindle fire seemed to have the advantage. for what i was looking for, the nook was a better fit - i can wait for the apps to develop - or i can work a little tech wizardry and can abracadabra the amazon app store onto my nook!

check out the cnet reviews for each and try to demo them in the stores before you jump for one or the other.

The drawback on the nook is that B and N are not in the best financial shape and if they go under, you will be in a pickle.

took that into consideration, too - figured that by the time that happens - i'll be ready to upgrade to a different device. and if i sideload the amazon app store, i'll always have apps! :)

My wife had the original Nook, loved it! Bought her the new Nook Color Tablet . Hid it in the home for Christmas for a month.

Then we go the the Apple Store and I watced the wife play with a IPad2- Her EYES GOT BRIGHT! a smile on the face. Hmmm

Took the Nook back credit to the Gold Card- Now a Ipad2 is going under the tree!

I could not Kindle a Fire! And now there is no nookie for me- Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
