Columns in home
 
I would like to have the columns in my living/dining room removed. Has anyone done that and if so were you pleased with the work.
i do not have the name of a person that can do this. HELP

I'm not an engineer but if the columns are support columns, they will be difficult and expensive to remove.

Have been told by a number of sales reps, the columns are not load bearing. I'm talking about the Gardenia, Camellia model only. Not sure if other models have columns.

I agree with Pooh. I think the columns in the Gardenia and Camellia are only for show. Some Gardenia's have them..some don't.

I would call the warranty dept. and get the builders # and ask them.

We removed the center column in our Gardenia - it is not load bearing. We also removed the drop down ceiling area from between the two columns.

The removed column was installed on the angled wall by the living area.

We are very happy with what we did. It opened up the area and made the living and kitchen areas much lighter.
