Car Alarms

My car is equipped with a car alarm. Since moving to TV, at least a couple of times a day my alarm "chirps", signaling it is being unlocked. Occasionally the alarm goes off (a loud and obnoxious sound). I have never experienced this anywhere else and was wondering if anyone knew what might be causing this? The only thing I can come up with is that is possibly a neighbor (or neighbors) garage door opener might be setting it off.

I want to be a good neighbor and don't like the noise that the alarm produces (it ruins the tranquility of the area). I am considering having the alarm disconnected, but I want to have it when I go to the shopping areas, etc. Any suggestions?

Car alarms are a PITA - have you ever seen anyone ever go over to a car with the alarm sounding to check out if it is being broken into?

I vote that you remove it.

Factory or after-market equipment?
Maybe it is the extra sensitive "Sink-Hole Warning".
I vote to disconnect it and replace it with a pretend warning window sticker.
