Comcast and no signal issues

Since comcast went to this new box and remote, every time I come down (about once a month) I have to go through the set up procedure again on every TV. If you power TV on it will say no signal. TV will not work unless I go through a complete set up and scan channel process. Anyone else having these problems? Or is this just one more hassle comcast has provided to everyone free of charge?

Could be your hdmi cable - had same problem and was ok after hooking up new cable - I think mine was damaged when comcast hooked it up, because it worked before.

Are you referring to the little digital adapter box they provided when they upgraded to all-digital service? If so, and you cut off power to it when you are away, it probably needs to re-establish connection to Comcast. That could take a while, resulting in a No Signal message from the TV. In addition, cutting off all power to the TV probably requires it to re-scan for channels, just as if you had bought it that day. I have a TV that we rarely use, so I disconnect power from it between uses. When I plug it in, it takes about 3-4 minutes to go through diagnostics and power up.

Yes, the small HD box. And as to an HDMI cable, a couple TV's are just the cable coax to the box and then coax to the TV. So no HDMI cable involved. Might be the comcast connection, but it sure creates a hassle. I will try "time" first by powering the TV on and waiting 15 minutes before doing anything to see if it establishes a comcast connection. Then will go through the scan if time doesn't work.

Do you, by chance, turn the power off while you're away? That should be the only reason for the little black box losing it's memory.

I just went into the spare bedroom and tried to turn on the TV there since it has been a couple of months since it has been turned on. The TV was unplugged, but when I plugged it in, it came on without any problem. You might have a faulty converter.

We have had Comcast for years. Sometimes when we turn on our TVs we get the same message (No Signal). All we have to do is, when we see that message, leave that screen up and using the Comcast remote, push "Cable", then "Power". If I hold the red "All On" button long enough I don't have any problem. Try holding that button just a bit longer to see if you will get your channels. You shouldn't have to scan, etc. every time.
