Slowest Golf Cart in The Villages

It's me! Apparently my brand new golf cart that I purchased last month is the slowest cart in TV. My gps says that I am going 20mph. My wife clocked me in the car and she confirmed that I am going 20mph. But in a month of driving all over in my cart, I have not passed a single cart and have been passed by scores of non street legal carts. hmmmmmmm!

i drive a street legal and get passed every day by golf carts! usually gas driven types.

Aa long a the GPS says 20 you are legal. It isthe rest of the cart.

Some pass me like I am standing still and I know mine goes 20.

Why are they driving so fast??????

I have the same problem....mines does 21 mph. I get passed quite often. I just don't understand this. We all have moved down here to relax and enjoy our wonderful retirements...what are these people rushing for??????

Our cart goes 19.9 mph...the legal limit if you're not a "street ready" cart. Many folks pass us as well. Had a conversation the other day with a guy who said his used to go 19.9 but "he" changed it to go 30mph because he wanted MORE power!!! If he indeed did this...I'm told THAT'S illegal!!

i get passed all the time but its not a problem for me. i dont care how fast others want to go! im doing 25 because thats all it will go. im legal to do so. if these governor passed gas carts want to go faster i say god bless em !! as long as they arent endangering others.

Last year when when I rented in TV I was passed a few times on the golf cart paths -- I thought it was just me being a poky newbie driver. Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets passed on the golf cart paths. I was in TV to relax and enjoy myself and the beauty of TV, not re-enact the Daytona 500. If I want to race other drivers, I can do that commuting to and from my job every day. JMHO.

We sometimes pass others when driving our cart but not because we're speeding. Our cart is set to 20 and we've clocked it and know it's accurate. We have an EZGO with an AC motor and it keeps at a constant speed. Many carts slow down when going uphill but we don't. That's when we sometimes pass.

Ours is just as slow as we only go up to 17 mph. I am passed all the time. But the cart came with the house we bought and we spent the money to put new batteries in which is less expensive to buy a new one. It is a 1993 and it gets us to where we want to go and that is fine with us right now.

Would a larger tire give you an edge? We have ones that are a bit bigger and we seem to do well. Ours is an electric EZ GO.

Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll stay at 20mph and enjoy the scenery!

We DO stay at 20 mph.... our golf car isn't souped up.
I misunderstood why you posted and thought you were speaking to keeping up with golf cars that travel at the appropriate speed.

Sorry 'bout that!

Just wondering if "souping up" a golf cart to get "more power" nullifies the insurance coverage on the cart and injuries. If the cart is not registered and licensed as street legal and is on the cart trails and going lickety-split, it sounds like an easy out for the insurance companies to me.
